But for today's video, I want to talk about the five things that successful roofing and solar contractors do that the unsuccessful ones don't do. So let's dive right into it. So the first point that I have and have some notes in front of me, the first point that I had is that internet killed the TV star, right?
So I'm sure you agree with that. You know, TV used to be the only media where you did your branding, where you built, you know, yeah. Where did the branding and got out there for, for the homeowners in your area, you shared your commercials who brand and you mix that kind of with direct mail and all of these things, right? A direct response, direct mail campaigns do to build your brand even more and to get a reset response from the homeowners in the area to offer fee estimates and so forth. But really now, now we have this thing, the internet and we had the phone, we have the social media and internet or the phone killed the TV star. This is the new TV. Everyone is walking around like this nowadays. So yeah, this is kind of broad point, but what I mean by that is that successful roofers understand this.
They know that this is the new TV. They know that internet is the new TV and that changes everything because if you're still stuck in the mindset that TV is the way to go, maybe you think that, Hey, my target market, you know my target market, they watch TV. The older generation still watches TV and it's only the younger generation that does social media and internet and all of that. Right? Well that's not true. If you check the statistics we have like what is it like 220 or 230 active million active users on Facebook, monthly active users in North America every single month that people who are active on the planet form and that's all age groups. It's from small little kids up to my grandmother's age. Now everyone is on social media, everyone is watching videos, sharing images and so forth. So don't be stuck in a mindset that you have to spend tens of thousands of dollars on the TV or on offline marketing methods, you know, door-knocking call centers.
Nobody likes to be doing Lockton cold calls anymore or that you have to do billboards and magazines and direct mail campaigns. This does all of that, but 10 times better. And that's just, it's a huge leverage point if you know how to set up an only in Salem system, drive traffic into that online sales system that converts that traffic into new paying customers. And can follow up with people that don't convert and you automate that. It's a huge game changer. So yeah, if you're not an internet right now, what are you doing? The success with roofers, they leveraged the internet and more than that, they, they, they leverage what's working. No legions, right? Don't sign up for leads sites. That's not the way to go. You need to do social media figured out the Facebook advertising has some online sales system in place and did warmup targeting campaigns, cold traffic campaigns.
And if that sounds confusing to you, I have a video, uh, that where it talks about that. So that's the first thing. Internet killed the TV star. You need some love and learn how to, how to adapt with them. The second point that successful roofing and solar contractors do that unsuccessful ones don't do this, that they leverage computers, they systemize their business. They are not, you know, putting in ton of time and effort into doing a bunch of manual things. Why would you do bunch of manual things when you have this, the computer, this is the new force. This is the new work course. This is the new robot. This is the new mega machine. So why would you do a bunch of manual work when you have this thing and internet to do a bunch of heavy, heavy lifting for you? You know, you don't have to door knock, you don't have to hustle hard anymore.
Dorn are cold calling during this hour, all of this hour on marketing. You can systemize it and you could automate it with marketing automation. You just need to know how to do it. And the successful group in solar contractors do, they seek out professional help to systemize their business. They have an online sales system in place that they automate with marketing automation that can put people into the CRM system fully automatically. When new leads come in, they can automate the follow up process. They can automate, um, sending up the leads to their sales reps from the automated and the automate everything. And they systemize not only in advertising but also in the business operations, um, side of things as well. Right? So that's a huge leverage point. Systemized, systemized, systemized, computers never complained. Computers can birth day and night and they can work a lot faster and a lot smarter than you, and they never do any errors.
There's no human errors with computers. They do the same thing over and over and over and over and over over again. You just need to know how to tell them what to do. So that's the second point. Leverage computers and systemized, systemized systems and also systemize, right? So that, that's the second thing. The third thing is that you need to work hard, but you need to work smart as hell. So successful roofing is all the contractors. They work hard. They, you know, everyone that I talked at are super, super successful. Their work ethic is through the roof. There are like, they control the work ethic. They are putting everything into it, the going after it, but they do it the smart way. You don't need to hustle hard. I'm going to door knock. I'm going to call as much as I need to or as high as I can.
We're going to hustle, hustle, hustle. You don't don't do that anymore. You just annoy people. You just annoy homeowners. People don't like to be cold called and more you don't. You don't. Um, they don't like to be door knocked anymore. People don't respond to direct mail campaigns as well as they did previously. So you don't have to hustle hard. You don't have to sit there and print thousands of brochures or spend a ton of time and team or radio commercials. You need to work hard, which you need to work smart. And how do you work smart, well utilized as I've talked about already, you systemize, you leverage social media, this thing, you automate using this thing and then you pretty much automate the entire sales process and the, the advertising process, you know, ads run for themselves, you put it into to the CRM system fully automatically automate the followup processes and all of that.
And where, where do you actually put in the hard work? Well, where it matters, the things that move the needle on the sales. You focus on, on, on good sales meetings, improving your sales process, improving the interaction with your customers and most importantly improving your product. What are you selling your service? That's where you should put your time and effort to. That's where you should work hard to produce the best possible results for for the homeowners in the area. Want to have happy customers. That's where you'll need to and support. That's like the most important thing. That's where you need to work hard, not doing direct mail campaigns and door knocking. Why would you do that in 2020 and beyond? Automate the marketing, automate the advertising and let people be comfortable at home watching your brand and your ads on this thing because this is where the live right now basically to automate all of that with computers and then work hard on the customer support, eh, the, the, you know, get the customer side of the, making the customer happy, automate marketing and work hard on making the customer happy and just going to take it to that next level.
It's like, you know, Def basis, his, his number one thing is, you know, he just want to make the user experience for all, all of the users on Amazon happy. And what's his biggest leverage point? Where does he work the hardest? Where he does, he invest most of the money on delivery, on shipment, on making, when someone makes an order, once the home owner and the customer to be as happy as possible, as quickly as possible by delivering the item as quickly as possible. That's his, that's where he works on them. Put a ton of money automating this entire um, warehouses, right where they have all of their items. They have like computers, automating and systemizing that we systemize the orders obviously and then they just focused on customer support than delivering the item as quickly as possible. You need does that million times better than all of the competitors and that's why he's like the witches man in the world.
I'm sure that you see my point. So that's the third thing. Hard but work smart. The fourth thing is to adapt to online and social media. Successful roofing as all the contractors, they adapt, you know, and they have adapted to go online and adapted to social media. They understand that Hey, Google is competitive. Everyone is doing Google SEO and Google pay per click. We should probably be move over to Facebook and social media where the competition is lower and where like everyone is spending their time, no one is, and not everyone is searching for a roofer in your area actively every single day that they do that once in a while when they need a service. So that's good. Right? But everyone is spending, I don't know how many hours in the average people spend on this thing. Is it like people spend like three to four hours per day on average on social media or something like that?
It's insane. Do you appear on social media? If you're not, then what are you doing? The successful roofing solar contractors, they understand that they adapt to online marketing and to social media. It's huge. If you're not on social media or if you're not even [inaudible] doing online advertising right now and you're wondering why you're not able to take your business to that next level. Yeah, that's a, that might solve the problem for you, but that's the fourth thing. The fifth thing that successful roofing contractors to do is that they are ahead of the curve and they take action. That's like the biggest thing that I notice when I talk to successful business people in general that are way better than I am and people that I love, that I look up to and respect, they just educate themselves. They are super charged with the Northern market better than everyone else.
He read a lot to educate themselves that are on the ball all the time so they can, they haven't, they know like without thinking what to do and what not to do and they take action. They not jump on a sales call or um, you know, they not even jump on a call with a potential new product or service unless they are certain that they want to do it. It's like, Hey, yeah, let's go boom. On successful roofers and all successful business people. You want to think about it. Yeah. I don't know Bob and [inaudible], you know, it's, they never do anything. It never happens. So, you know, we live in a physical universe, right? You need to do things. It doesn't matter how much you think or how good you feel, you need it to do things, need to implement things and get it working, get rolling and uh, yeah, so they are ahead of the curve and the tech take actions.
So yet they take the action, but they're also head up the curve. They're willing to test new things. They're not afraid to fail, right? There's no such thing as failure. Right. When you're trying to, this is kind of how the, how, how are we getting closer, closer to the goal. Like a, like a heat seeking Mysite right? You have your goal, I want to make $10 million per year or whatever and I'm not, I might be the ms side goes like this. And then over time as you're trying to things, it holds it in and boom, you make it right. So you need to be willing to be head of the curve. You need to be willing to test new things. And this online social media thing, it's like we have such a strong proof of concept for we direct now we only help open this.
All the contracts. There's all with this Facebook advertising and social media. So our proof of concept is like so strong right now and we just, when someone joins our program, we just give them the recipe [inaudible] implemented, let's do it. And then we offer support and um, and it's fun because it works and people love it and it's, it's a, it's cool. It's fun because we can just automate things and leverage all of these computers, social media, internet and businesses fun. When you do that, you don't have to work, hustle hard anymore doing all these crazy offline marketing type of things. So that would be it for today's video. A quick summary. The first name, intimate killed the TV star. The second thing, leverage computers and systemized, systemized, systemized. The third thing, you need to work hard but you need to work smart. The fourth thing adapt to online and social media.
And the fifth and final thing is that you need to be ahead of the curve. Don't compete where everyone else is doing. Everyone else is doing Google and it's super competitive and they're probably a good idea to look towards. Facebook and social media is then, so be ahead of the curve. You're willing to risk and willing to take action and yet take action. So that's it for today's video. If you liked it, the thumbs up.
