Here's why you need to stop using home advisor for your roof in the solar contractor business.

And lead generation websites. I'm sure if you're a roofing, a solid contractor transits are like 99% that you have tested home advisor or Angie's list or porch or works for all of these websites at least once.
I can almost also almost also guarantee that you have a real, real bad experience with using them. So in this video I want to talk about why you shouldn't utilize them, what the biggest problems are with utilizing lead generation websites and home advisor. It's not only duplicated and expensive, it's a ton of other problems with it as well. Then we'll talk about that and then finally I'm going to talk about what you should do instead. So let's dive into it. The first point that I had is obviously that HomeAdvisor is expensive and it generates duplicative needs, right? So when you sign up with home advisor, it sounds really awesome and sounds really good. You get promised to get a ton of leads and it's going to be outsourced and super easy, right? But it's not as good as as some us. That's a lot of people think it is, right?
You sign up, you start to spend a bunch of money, they generate duplicate leads to, so like between 30 to five other contractors actually receive those leads, which is super, super bad. And the leads are super expensive as well, right? It's like between the big $130 for duplicate leads. Sometimes even more so. And I've heard like horror stories about this, right? You know, roofing contractors who they spend like two and a half to $3,000 per month and at the end of the month they get, they've been on the phone with like one or two people. It's like the most insane story I've ever, ever heard. And that was a person who actually received the leads. You started to call the leads, immediately email the leads immediately and also trying to send text messages to meet men media, well and stale. They were only able to get like two people on the phone and I think he closed the one.
So he kinda, you know, broke even or something like that. Right. So yeah, it's insane. And yeah, duplicate leads is like the worst thing you can do in 2020 because now when you can like control your own advertising and have your own advertising system instead. And when you can move over to social media, for example, and automate all of the advertising and generating exclusive leads under your own brand and on your own website for a fraction, the cost and then automated so that you don't have to do anything yourself. It's even easier than utilizing Legion site. You know, it just doesn't make sense to utilize HomeAdvisor or those other Legion sites for that matter neither. So that's reason number one, they're expensive and duplicate leads don't do it. The second reason why you shouldn't do home advisor or other lead gen sites is that you're not doing any branding, right?
So think about it. You are just getting cold leads from a third party platforms or home advisor. They are branding themselves, you know, they get more users because you basically give them money to start to find new people, right? So you basically give home advisers so the tape can get more business and brand themselves more. Right? And so what's the problem with that? Just, well, just imagine it yourself, right? If you're a homeowner and you request free estimates from a roofing contractor and then before you know it you have like five people trying to contact you. You have no idea who that person is. You have no idea who that company is. You don't like them yet. You don't trust them and you're very, very skeptical. Right. Versus, let's see, you just browse around on Facebook. As a homeowner, you're not really looking around for anything.
You kind of look for roofer, you know that you're in need of a roofer and there is an ad from a local roofing contractor where you should see their logo. You see an impelling, you know text and headline for a free estimate and you see a high quality branding video from that company where you as a homeowner get the chance to actually see who the company is, what they stand for, what the people look like within the company. You start to like them, you start to trust them and eventually you start to feel like you know them and then you decide to go ahead and request a free estimate. You put in your information and then you get one phone call from that company and now you already feel like you know them and you're already trust them. So you as a homeowner feels a lot more comfortable naturally doing business with that company.
Right? So that's exactly why you need to do branding yourself. And when you do utilize those Legion sites, you know, third party lead generation platforms, you're not doing any branding in the hall. And also if you hire a marketing agency to do the work for you, they might do the same process. They might also generate the leads and then they just sell you the lead cold lead. They are not doing the advertising under your brand and under your website. And that's a big known. That's what like that's like the biggest reason why you shouldn't do, um, those Legion sites. It's just a quick fix that doesn't even work. We need to think longterm, start generating high quote in exclusively to under your own brand and website instead. That's really what you need to do. If you want to scale things to that next level. And if you want to say money and do marketing, more efficiency and all of that.
So yeah, that's, that's the second point. Third point that I want to talk about is that you should advertise under your own brand new website and I'm already talking about that now, but it's super, super important. There's no reason why you should or shouldn't do advertising under your own brand and website in 2020 and 2020 and beyond. You know, setting up a website, super simple. You probably already have a website. If you're a serious roof in a solar contractor, setting up a Facebook business page, it takes like a minute to do. It's also super simple to do. So what you should do is to start to do the advertising under your own brand and website. And if you start to market or advertise yourself on Facebook with I, which I recommend simply because the competition on Facebook is like non-existent when your computer to Google is that you will start to do the advertising under your own brand.
People will see your logo, your company name, they will see your headline, your body copy text. They will see your videos and they will see your images. So simultaneous new start to advertise for leads on Facebook. You also do your brand awareness and your brand building locally. And you know the average American right now spends like two and a half to three hours per day on social media. The average American, not only young people, the average American all age groups spends on average between two and a half to three hours per day on social media and then dough. Then on top of that, they spend around three hours per day on the phones. So think about it, why, you know, the average American doesn't spend two and half hours on home advisor every day. I can assure you that. But they spent two and a half hours per day home, Facebook and Instagram every single day.
So why don't you advertise on Facebook and you know, yeah, it's just you need to do advertising under your own brand and build Doug brand awareness simultaneously. Point number three that I want to talk about is Facebook advertising and social media. And again, I have already gone ahead of myself. Pearson had bedbug. Yeah. Facebook is the name of the game right now in 2020 and social media simply because the average American spends all their time on this thing.
They're not on the TV anymore. Who carries around the 50 inch TV in the pocket? Nobody. But how many people carry us around this thing? When, how many looks in this thing? Like every two minutes? Yeah, pretty much everyone. So you need to figure out how to advertise your roof in the solar business on this thing. More specific. Non social media, Facebook advertising and social or Instagram. I need. If you're a commercial roofing company or solar company, you should look into LinkedIn. Uh, if you're a residential, make sure to figure out Facebook and Instagram, um, because you get better results, quicker results, cheaper results. And you can also do the branding simultaneously. So your sales conversions go up a ton. And we can do that simply because everyone is doing Google right now. Everyone is competing on home advisor and Google and doing SEO and pay per click and all of that too.
If you escape home and wiser, if you escape Google, if you escape those shady marketing agencies that does and it doesn't do any advertising under your own brand and website, you move over to Facebook, social media, figure out how to, how to set up your own campaigns, how to automate your own campaigns, how to do the advertising under your own brand and website. Start to generate free estimate leads from new homeowners in your area on Facebook and Instagram. Get that rolling. Then you implement the branding campaign. Creating a high quality video company starts sharing that with pay traffic as well on social media. You know, your business will just go to that next level. You know, one of our customers, Austin Miller went from low seven to eight figures within the first three months of doing excite. What I talk about here in this video. So it's insane.
It gets real results and it's just crazy, crazy stuff. So that's pretty much what I, what I want to talk about in today's video. So the first thing I talked about was stop using HomeAdvisor. It's expensive and duplicate leads. Reason number two you shouldn't use HomeAdvisor is because you can do any branding. It's only your basically giving home into waste money so that they can do their branding. Reason number three is that you should stop using home advisor. You should start to advertise on your own brand and website instead. Then we show you how to do that on our website, even tweaking the calm. And the fourth thing that I talked about is Facebook advertising and social media. And why it is the name of the game right now in 2020 simply because the competition is lower. You can advertise from needs more effectively, and you can do the branding party, you can escape TV and radio commercials and print like billboards and magazines for branding. So you can do branding and direct response advertising on Facebook and social media. So that's it for today's video.
