This is why social media marketing is the future of advertising.
Hey guys, Max perzon here. And if you've never seen me before, I help both roofing and solar contractors to get more leads, more customers, and ultimately help them to scale their business to that next level. But utilizing social media, Facebook advertising together with our online sales system. And if you want to know more about that, you can head over to our website. If you're watching this on YouTube, make sure to like subscribe and leave a comment down below. But for today's video, I'm going to talk about why social media is the future. The social media marketing is the future of advertising as we know it. So let's dive around Intuit. So the first point that I have for you is that, did you know that average American current dispense between two and a half to three hours per day? Right now? Social media, that's insane, right?
The average American all age groups. So it's not only the young people who does social media marketing or spends time on social media or rather right now all age groups, like my little sister is on social media. My mother is social media and my grandmother is on social media as well. So it's all age groups. And the average American spends on average two and a half to three hours per day on social media scrolling through Facebook, scrolling through Instagram. They might be watching some YouTube videos. It's not really social media, but still, eh, LinkedIn is a huge social media platform as well. That is our new students starting to grow right now. A lot. And maybe you know that Microsoft is the one that owns linked in. Uh, but if you're a roofing, the solar contractors, the most interesting social media platform right now, if your business is Facebook and Instagram, because homeowners in your area is spending a ton of time on those platforms every single day to nap hours, to three hours per day, only on social media.
And then on top of that, that average American spends about three hours per day on their phones. So if you're not appearing on social media right now, if you're not advertising on social media, like what are you doing? If you're still like only depending on referrals or maybe you're only maybe doing those lead generation websites, home advisor, Angie's list and porch, which kind of almost tricks people into anyone know, putting in their information. You know, they, they um, they ask the homeowners to just fill in their information for like a reprice estimate and then they send that information out to multiple different contractors as a lead. And uh, they pretty much never answer and super hard to close them. And they're super expensive. It's full, right? $830 per lead to buy those lead gen sites, duplicate leads, which is insane and it doesn't build your brand.
So social media marketing is definitely the future of advertising. Another big perk. But social media, is that pretty much all the roof? All the contractors are competing on Google right now, right? Google is so popular. It's very, pretty much all, every roof in the solar contractor has an SEO agency hired and or they do Google paper click as well. So pretty much everyone is trying to rank and pay for the same keywords, but you know, it takes a long time to get results and the prices go up a ton. Right now. You know, the prices on Google pay per click is not what it used to be just like one year ago. It's just going up a ton. So if you're not capitalizing on that fact that the average American person spend between two and a half to three hours per day on social media, you're missing out big time because some of our customers have made that that transformation going from Google and Legion sites over to Facebook, and they've gone from $130 duplicate leads to 10 to $20 exclusive and qualified leads generated on their, their own brand by moving over to Facebook and social media.
So yeah, just that fact alone is just a huge indicator that social media marketing is the future of advertising as we know it. The second point that I want to talk about is that the phone is the new TV and the new radio, right? So when you know now that the average American spends like three hours on their phone and like three hours on social media, the average American, no, pretty much that makes the TV and the phone, the new TV and the new radio. It also makes the T V the phone, the new new source, the new magazine. You know, Instagram is like the new magazine. All the websites are, or the new new sources. Social media is also the new news source, like Twitter and Facebook is the new TV and you'd used to miss the new TV and the new radio. So like the internet and the phone is the new team and the new radio.
So that big old screen back there, nobody can carry that around with them. Right. And also a lot of roofing has solar contractors out there nowadays. They're still doing their branding on TV. Right? So those TV stations are still super, super expensive. Right. Did it cost you thousands and thousands of dollars to do like a TV commercial and run it on some TV channels? But the worst part about it is that you cannot really track anything. Right? And it costs you a bunch of money and you can only like, it's just like a shotgun approach, right? You just put it out there and hope that somebody sees it. But what you can do with social media marketing is that you can create the same high quality commercial videos and branding videos for your business and then you can distribute it on social media instead. So, um, it becomes a lot more powerful.
And you can get high quality views on social media with paid advertising for just a couple of cents on the dollar compared to a TV commercial. That's going to cost you a lot more. So the phone and social media is truly the new team and the new radios. If you're not advertising on social media right now for your roofing solo business, you're missing out big time. And if you want to know more about how you can start with it in a very simple way, you can just head over to our website leads dot from dotcom where we show you step by step, click by click from a to Z. How to get started with social media marketing for your roof from the soldiers. So that takes me to point number three and that is branding and direct response. So I'm sure that you're aware of what branding is, right?
You create a TV commercial or you have like a huge billboard and branding is normally just like a, when it's printed it's normally just a good good looking image with like a logo on it. And sometimes it's, it's just like a slogan there, you know, um, Nike has like just do it. It's just a Nike logo, just do it. And someone who kind of slams the dunk or something like that. That's like a branding piece. Right? And direct response is more of a salesmanship in print. So you normally have an image as well showing the product or the service. For example, you haven't headline and then you have a long body copy tax. And why it's called direct response is because you're trying to sell something within this piece. So what you're selling is you want the direct response from the person who reads it or sees it.
So it could be, you know, opt in for a free estimate, for example, in the roofing industry or if it's another and any other type of product, it could be like fill in your information to get a free trial and so forth. So direct response is great because you can track everything like down to the dollar. So I've been a huge believer in direct response and I'm still is. Um, it works really, really good, especially when you move over to online advertising and social media marketing because now you can track everything out electronically. So it's like you save a ton of time and it's very simple. You can do various different tests and find what's working the best. And you can do that very easily and effortlessly with electronic uterus now as well, right? Compared to like writing a bunch of different variations by hand or by print and then trying to keep track of everything manually.
You don't have to do that anymore. So direct response advertising is easier than ever to do. Now when we have online advertising, especially on social media, it's working really, really good because on social media, right, you can have an image, you can have that uncle, right? You can have an image or even a video on if in the Facebook ad you can have a headline and you can ask also have a body copy or text. So it's perfect for direct response advertising. So that's, that's direct response. And what grabbing is is that mentioned, right? It's just an immutable gun headline. And I thought for big, for like a long time that branding was just for like big corporations that didn't know how to do direct response advertising. So I thought, no branding is this bad. It doesn't work. It's just a, it's just a people with a lot of money that just kind of throws it out there and it kind of builds their brand.
So I wasn't a big believer in it, but now when we have social media and when you can do branding on social media instead of doing expensive print and TV, the game has changed big time. So now you can do branding and direct response simultaneously on social media. So instead of sharing your videos on TV, you can share it on social media instead. And did it really good part about branding is that you control the perception of your company. So you give homeowners in your area a chance to first of all see you, see your brand, see your logo. And if you start to shoot videos, people will start to like you, then they will trust you and ultimately they will feel like they know you. So if you can mix branding content like that with videos together with direct response and your seeds, conversions are going to spike a ton because people that do business with you have already been warmed up with branding videos and now they feel like they know you.
So your sales conversions go up a ton. And we've tested this and our customers have tested this and it's distancing the sales conversions who have so much. And it's really, really cool. So point number four is automation. So marketing automation, you know, a lot of people talk about artificial intelligence and machine learning and big data and marketing automation and all of these things. So what is it and how does it really apply to your roof and the solar business in terms of marketing? Well, now when we have computers, right? And when we, when we start to do online advertising, you don't have to do everything manually. Um, the online ads pretty much runs forwards for themselves right now. You just need to know how to set it up and help to get started with it and have like a recipe in place that is, has a strong proof proof of concept.
So you can need to know what to write in the ads, what type of images to use, how to do the targeting and so forth, um, and out to do the retargeting. So you kind of need to know how to do it initially. And that's what we teach roofing us. All contractors have to do. We kind of give them the shortcut, we give them that recipe, but once we have that set up, their ads are pretty much gonna run for, for themselves. Uh, once you find a proof of concept that works, you, you pretty much just check on them like once per day to report on some numbers and then they're going to optimize them one for themselves. So the ads ones for themselves, you just adjust the budget. But then we can also automate like what happens when they actually generate the lead, right?
So we might want to save them into a CRM system. You want to send off, eat your sales reps, you want to send up confirmation email and text message to the homeowner, then you want to try to convert them into new customer. Um, if they don't convert, do you want to follow up with them? Um, and then you also want to do retargeting. So if they've seen you once, you want them to keep seeing you everywhere. So some people are still doing this manually, putting people into the CRM system, manually following up, sending out the information to sales reps, doing that manually. But you don't have to do that anymore. So you can automate this with marketing automation and artificial intelligence. So you can automate this entire process and streamline everything's, you've set it up once, generate lead on autopilot pretty much. And then then the following process is fully automated as well.
The only thing you've ever seen glaze that when you receive lead, you get into phone, you call the homeowner, you tried to qualify them, set an appointment and so forth. Then you just end the call and then everything else is handled by itself. So the followup process kicks in there is targeting kicks in. So you don't have to think about anything. You own your own system, you're doing your own advertising, you're doing your branding, you're doing direct response and everything is just happened for itself. So it's a, it's a game changer. And the fifth and final reason why social media marketing is the future of advertising is that it has a lot less competition right now. So pretty much every roof in this whole contractor right now is on Google. You know, everyone's competing on Google doing SEO and pay per click, or they're doing team or radio commercials and direct mail and print billboards and magazine door-knocking or call centers, those offline marketing methods, or they doing those Legion sites, right?
Home advisor, Angie's list, porch works, all of these other ones, right? So pretty much everyone is competing those platforms too. When you move over to social social media marketing, you start to advertise there, you escaped the competition. And when you escape the competition, you're going to get results easier and quicker. You're going to pay less per lead and you will get all of those other benefits that I've talked about in this video. So you can do direct response, you can do branding, you can do everything under your own brand and website. You can automate things with your own system and the benefits just overflow, uh, compared to those, there are alternatives that are out there. So that's it for today's video. Why social media marketing is the future of advertising.
