Here are four secrets to generate exclusive roofing or solar leads in 2020 and beyond.

But for today, I have an awesome video for you guys. So I'm going to talk about four secrets that will help you to generate more exclusive roofing and solely for your contractor business. So what I'm going to talk about is number one, social media and how that affects your business in 2020 do they.
Second thing is big data and in market leads and what that is. The third thing is automation and systems and how you can just make your business more efficient by moving over to online advertising. And the fourth thing is that branding actually increased sales. I'm going to break that down, et cetera. How you should do it. So let's dive into the first point. So social media, so you're like, Hey max, what's so secret about social media? Well, think about it like this. The average American right now, this spend two and a half hours per day on social media, and the average American spends about, I think it's three or three and a half hours per day on their phone. So social media and doing advertising on this thing is the new way to do advertising right now in 2020 that old big old 50 inch TV right there.
Nobody can carry that around with them. So when do you understand this truth that social media is where people hang. This is where people, what people walk around with their noses down their phone all day right now. So when you understand that, when you truly understand that, except that you will never do direct mail campaigns again, you will never do TV or radio commercials again. You will never do you know billboards or magazines or depend on call centers or depend on door knocking or depend on just referrals or like yard signs or like wrapping or truck. You know, I, I don't know how many roofing assault contractors that I talk to and ask them like, okay, so what are you doing in terms of advertising right now? It's like, yeah, I uh, I depend on referrals. It's like, okay, so where do you want to take your business?
Yeah, I want to double my business. Okay, how's that going for you? Yeah, it's going slow. Okay. So what are you going to do about it? You know, so if you're doing this old type of advertising right now, you need to understand that your target market, the average American is spending over two and a half hours per day on social media. That's the average American, not some people spend a ton lot bore and it's not only young people that spend time on social. My grandmother's spends time on social media. She is watching videos, she is following groups and pages. She is, you know, all of the big businesses out there have a social media page. She's sharing stuff on Facebook and Instagram videos and branding themselves on their platforms. That's why so many people are attracted to these platforms because you cannot, it's not just that you're going to interact with your friends and share your own videos and images, but you follow people and brands that you like and, and, and trust and, and associate with yourself as well.
So that's why then all age groups are on social media. So you might think that, Hey, social media is not something for me. That's too tacky for me. I'm just a roofer who, no, that's not, that's not good for me. But what do you need to realize is that you don't, you might don't think that you need social media, but your business definitely need social media. If you want to scale your business. Now in 2020 and beyond, your business needs social media, it needs marketing. One of my [inaudible] AI, machine learning and big data and all of these new technologies. Because the truth is if you're not going to adapt your business gonna suffer and your competitors are going to implement this, like the ones who are going to win right now online, it's they are the businesses who are going to adapt the quickest. That's how it always is in business, right?
So that's the first thing. Just realize that social media is powerful. That's where people spend a lot of their time during the day. So if people, if your target market spends time on this thing every single day, why don't you advertise on it? All right? And the cool thing as well is that this is, you can, it's 10 times, 10,000 times more better to advertise on this thing because you will know where your money goes compared to offline, where you cannot track anything on this thing. You can track everything, you get cheaper leads, fire quality leads. You can do branding simultaneously as well. And if you want to know more about that, you can head over to our website. The second thing that I want to talk about is big data and in market leaps. So what is big data and what is in market leads? Well in market leads is pretty self explanatory so that our leads people basically homeowners in your area that are in market right now for your services, people who are actively searching for your services in your area right now, you usually talk about different stages, right?
Where people are in different buying stages and obviously you want to spend most of your time and effort and money on the like 20% that are like the most interested in your business right now or in your services. Either they or they want to for now or they're like, Hey, I might be the roof or pretty soon, right? So you want us to be able to identify those people and advertise to them. So how do you do that? That's pretty hard to do if you're going to do direct mail campaign or like a TV commercial or a radio commercial or if you're going to do like door knocking, like how are you going to like identify that. But that's the cool thing with today's technology and when everyone is spending a lot of time on this thing, what Facebook and social media and Google and all of these platforms are doing is that they gathered a lot of data about their users daily.
They get, I don't know how much data, but it's not only your name, email and phone number and address anymore. They know everything about you and what you do on your phone, like what websites you browse, what you're interested in, who you talk to, your, your search patterns, your, your writing patterns like they'd know a ton. That's called big data. And what you can do with big data and with all this information is that you can have smart computers and AI and so forth. You can kind of start to figure out who is in market for your services. And that's called InMarket leads. So big data and in market leads it's like a ton of data and then you can kind of figure out who is in market and then you can advertise to them. And that is super, super powerful because if you know how to work with those algorithms and when you know how to build your campaigns the right way, and don't get me wrong, this might sound super computing to you right now, but it's really not.
It's what you need basically is just a system that you set up, you plug, it's a plug and play system that you set up once and then it pretty much runs for itself with marketing automation. So yeah, like we instead of you doing the all of the heavy lifting, tried to figure out who to send all the, all of these direct mail campaigns to you just set up a system and you let the computers and the and the robots basically to do all of the heavy lifting for you. And this is really the new way to do advertising online right now. So that's the second thing, what big data is and what in market leads is now you know what it is and obviously you want to be able to target people who are actively looking for your services [inaudible] that's how you get higher quality leads that convert better and so forth.
The third secret that I want to talk about is automation and systems. So yeah, think about it now when we have computers that are like can work, can handle a ton of data and so forth. What that allows us to do is that you can automate a ton of things in your business. You don't need manual, you know, humans doing manual work for you every single step of the process right now you can automate it and you can also implement systems that do the same thing over and over and over again. So in this definitely applies to marketing and that's what's called marketing automation, right? So let me explain it to you. So the first thing that happens when you do online ads, right, is that you do ads on some type of platform, let's say Facebook ads for example, which in my opinion is the absolute best advertising platform right now for roofers, simply because the competition on Facebook doesn't even compare to Google.
Everyone's doing Google. So when you move over to Facebook, you can get a lot better results a lot quicker. But anyways, so you do Facebook advertising, let's say you start to get traffic, you start to get new eyeballs to your business, people who see your ads, then you need a system that takes that traffic, converts that traffic into leads and then convert leads into customers. And then so we also want to be able to follow up with the leads that doesn't convert into customers and so forth, right? So we need some type of system in place here and that's like an online sales system that converts traffic or people into customers. And we can automate the system. So when someone sees your ads and they click on that, we can have a form pop up within Facebook. When they opt in with their name, email, phone number, an address, we can put them into the CRM system fully automated automatically.
So we don't have to do that manually. We can send out confirmation emails and text messages to the homeowner immediately, fully automated. We can send out the lead information to your sales reps, to the right sales rep, fully OD automated. So we don't need like an assistant trying to do all of this, which becomes very hard when you ramp things up and scale things. Um, and then finally you can also do the followup process fully, automatically with email or text. And then you can also do this retargeting, uh, cross-platform retargeting where you basically, if someone see your ad on Facebook, just once, you can start to show them ads every single day on Facebook, all over the place, but also on Instagram and Google and YouTube and on the banner of, with banners and across the entire web and so forth. Right? So that's really what automation systems is.
You need an, you need an automation and some type of system to systemize a business in place. If we want to advertise this new way because um, yeah, you don't want to do it in a manual work in more unless you want to work your butt off and just be very unefficient. I guess that's completely up to you. If you want to implement systems and have just a simple plug and play system that you set up once for your business that you own yourself, you know where to go. Uh, so that's the third thing. The fourth thing that I want to talk about this branding and that branding increase sales, right? So this is something that I had a very hard time actually to get in my head for a long time because I've always been something called a direct response advertiser. And what direct response advertising is, is when you craft ads that you know you have an image you haven't headline, you normally have a little bit longer copy and you want the direct response from the person that you advertise to.
For example, they click on the ad, they get a form up, they put in their name and email, so forth. And um, you take them through some type of online sales conversion system as well, right? So you can track everything. That's what direct response advertising is. You, you set up a system basically so that you can track down to the dollar how your marketing efforts are performing, which is great. And the other, so that's direct response. I love direct response and it is great. And the other side of the cone is branding and as you know, is like Coca Cola adjusts a big banner with just the Coca Cola logo on it. It's does, it's no system behind it. It's just like just branding, right? Or like a Nike commercial or like, you know, a basketball player or like tiger woods or whoever now might be right. It's just a branding video.
And I will always spend like, seems like a ton of waste of money. You know, TV commercials are super expensive. Like why do you even do branding? What's the purpose behind it? But of course if all of these big companies are doing branding, obviously it has to have some type of meaning behind it, right? It is powerful. So why is it powerful? Well, because you want to control the perception of your company, right? You want people, you want the homeowner in your area. Obviously you want them to have a positive, sometimes some type of positive emotion to your business and your brand and so forth, and you want to control that and you don't have to pay those TV stations and do your branding on a TV anymore that costs you thousands of dollars. You don't have to do that anymore. You can do branding on this thing.
You can do it more effectively and you can do it a lot cheaper. So you can start to share branding videos and branding content on social, on the social media platforms. And I'm not talking about just posting a video on your Facebook page and then just leave it there. I'm talking about with paid traffic, distribute your video content, which is the most, the most powerful type of brand and content you can do is to create a high quality video of your company, right? That like talks about your values, shows the people behind your company, what you stand for, maybe some testimonials, some good feeling music and so forth, right? I'm sure you're getting the image in your head, right? So if you have a high piece of high quality video branding content like that and you learned how to distribute in on social media, what will happen is that when you, when you do your direct response ads on Facebook, you do your retargeting on all platforms and you do this branding videos on all platforms as well.
What will happen is that people will start to like you when they see you a ton more. They will start to trust you. Eventually they will start to feel like they know you and when they feel like then that they know you like you and trust you, your sales conversions are going to go up a lot. You know, and we tested this and the sales conversions go up a ton when you do this simply because people trust you, like you and feel like they know you. And so you can, you can do all of that heavy work by you know, getting that emotion into people. You don't have to do that. And when you call them or you know when you meet them for the first time, if you can share those videos on social media, when you call them, they've already seen your branding content they already like and trust you.
So the conversation is a lot easier. It's a lot easier to close people. My name's since seen this brand and contests and also when your sales guys go out to meet them, they have maybe already seen that sales person on this branding video. So now they're like super happy because they already feel like they know this person. I'm sure that you get the points. So that's the fourth secret. That branding increases sales a lot. You need to do branding and direct response advertising on those social media platforms and on this thing. So that's pretty much it for today's video, the four secrets that will scale your business and generate more exclusive leads, food from the solar business. The first thing is social media. This is where people spend their time. The second thing is big data and in marketing leads that we talked about what is big data and there's all data and what is in market leads, people that are looking for your services.
The third thing is automation and system. You need to start to automate your business, systemize that, make it more efficient, have a system that you set up once and then it just runs for itself. And then the fourth thing we'll talk about is branding and how branding affects your sales and why branding is super, super effective now in 2020 and beyond because you don't need to do it on the team anymore.
