But for today's video, I want to talk about seven things that you need to do if you want more qualified and exclusive leads for a roof and the solar contractor business in 2020 and beyond. So let's dive right into it. So the first thing you need to do is to move over to social media. Yep. Did you know that the average American is currently spending between two and a half hours to three hours per day on social media? That's the average American all age groups. It's not only young people who are social media anymore. If you believe that that's not true at all, the average American spends between two and a half to three hours per day on social media. So why are still doing home advisor? Why are you still doing Google? Why are still doing teamer 80 why are we still doing call centers? Why are we still doing door knocking? Why are you still doing direct mail? Why are still doing billboards and magazines? Why are still doing all that?
That's nonsense when the average American spends two and a half hours per day on social media. I'm just saying the social media marketing is the future of advertising that's been noted and the good news is that most roofers and solar contractors are just like you. They spend most of their time on Google and offline and then those lead gen sites. So if you decide to move over to to social media and figured that out, I'm not talking about posting some organic content. That's not what I mean by social media marketing. I'm talking about real advertising campaigns on Facebook, real direct response advertising campaigns on Facebook. If you can figure that out, you can use all of business now 2020 you just escaped the
competition and now we have like your own blue ocean where you can fish in. The red ocean is on Google. Everyone's doing Google, so buyer's still going to compete there. You can do that if you want to pay a ton of money and not getting real results, but if you move over to social media, you have escaped the competition. Now it can get exclusively to under your own brand and website qualified leads and you can build your brand on social media. You can start generating leads for between 10 to $20 no metal hand, no agency doing it for you know, a lead gen site doing it for you, stealing your money, exclusive needs generated around your own brand and website or between 10 to $20 if you want that, let us show you exactly how to do email@example.com the second thing that you need to do if you want to take things through to that next level in 2020 is that you need to start to retarget people and you also need start to brand
your business, right? So if you're not doing any type of branding right now, like what are you doing? And I'm not judging anyone here, I thought branding was just a bunch of nonsense for a long, long period of time. I've been a direct response guy, I thought in on direct response as to where to go. You can track everything, you know, down to the dollar and you know, everything break. So I thought like branding was only for like big corporations not knowing what to do with their money. So they just kind of threw away their brand and that's what I bought. But I have since then learned that you know branding is super important and it's super, super powerful, right? Because you want to control the perception of your company. So you want people to like you and trust you and ultimately feel like they know you. So if you can get homeowners in your area,
do you feel like they know your company, feel like they know you before you ever tried to call them before you haven't tried to qualify them and set an appointment. If you get people on the phone who all learned to feel like they know you via branding videos on social media for example, your sales conversions aren't going to go up a ton. It's insane. So you have to brand yourself simply because if you want to do, if you want your sales process to become just a hundred times easier, you need to start to brand yourself. And then what retargeting is that is that when someone comes to your website or if someone comes to your Facebook business page, what most roofing and solar contractors are doing nowadays is that, you know, they just kinda, if they contact you, they contact you. If they leave your website, they never hear from you again, right? But what you can do is that you can just install this very simple thing on your website.
So when someone lands on your website, just once you can seem that person and they can start to show them ads every single day. You know, if you go to Amazon and check on a pair of new Nike running shoes and then you're like, ah, I would buy these shoes later. So we leave the website and you go down stairs for dinner and then you forget about the shoes and then you log into your phone in a couple of hours and then you start to see that those Nike shoes all over the place. That's retargeting. And that's what you can do for your weekend solar business. Now as well. It's very cheap and it's super, super powerful. You want to mix retargeting on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube on the Google display networks on those banner ads. If someone goes to, goes to their favorite foods long, your banner ad will pop up there trying to bring them back to your website,
right? So you want to do retargeting and you also want to do branding on social media so you can retarget people with branding videos on Facebook. So every single day when they log into Facebook or Instagram, boom, there's your branding video, you know, showing testimonials, showing on your logo, what you stand for, good upbeat, happy music. So people actually get a positive emotions attached to your competent. You're controlling the perception of your company and people started to trust you, like you and feel like I know you and that's when they do business with you. Super important. The third recommendation that I have for you, um, if you want to get more qualified and exclusive leads in 2020 is that you need to start to automate your business. And yeah, my in terms of advertising is what I'm talking about, right? So you want to automate because what we have right now in 2020 is
that we have artificial intelligence. I'm sure that you've heard about it and we have a machine learning computers, essentially computers learning themselves how to do certain things and that will also have marketing automation. So this is really cool because now we can automate our advertising and we don't need an advertising agency to do it for us anymore. And truth be told, if you hire an agency to do, to run ads for you, you know if they're good, they're going to utilize this AI and machine learning and big data and marketing automation anyways, but now you're just paying a middle hand or an agency to run automation for you instead of just sending all of that up yourself and then just click
play and have the computer running for you in the houses that it's like a cheaper, it's more powerful. You have full control. The oldest system yourself, the agency can just, you know, if you decided to start working with them, they will just take all of that and just leave. Right? So you want to own a control that yourself. And what you can do with marketing automation is that you know, you can automate the ads. So you just start to ads. They start to run for themselves, start to optimize themselves, start to learn how to target real homeowners in their area who are in market right now. So the ads run from for themselves, they generate leads. So you can have like a conversion system in place. So you get traffic that traffic gets into leads and then you can follow up with leads that don't cover to the customers. And you can also convert cost leads into customers. So you can automate all of that. You can automate the followup process, nurture process. You can automate the retargeting, you can automate ads, you can add people into
the CRM system fully automatically. You don't have to do that manually. So if you like start to generate 10 to 15 or 20 leads per day and you have to sit there and try to save them into the CRM system manually and it's going to be a lot of work. So what you want to do is that you can automate that. When you generate lead, you save that lead into the CRM system while you are automated, which seems you could watch a time, it makes everything more efficient. You send up confirmation emails and text messages to the homeowner automatically you could send mail to meet you, to have seats reps to the right sales rep or the automatically. So yeah, you need to start to automate your business. And if you want to learn more about that, we should exactly how to do that on the truth. So that brings me to point
number four is that you know, you need to stop buying those duplicate leads. And I don't care if you're doing either lead generation websites or if you have an agency hire hire right now to generate leads for you. So if you're still doing home advisor works, forge and this list, all of these ones, right? Seriously, stop the video right now. Go in there, cancel everything, save your money and don't never ever use it again. I don't care if it's still paying for itself. It's like it's so bad. It breaks all of the rules. It's duplicate leads, it's expensive leads, and you're not building your brand. You're doing the advertising under home advisor's logo. I don't care if you have a profile on advisor, it's still so bad. It's like don't do it. The alternative social media, doing everything under your own brand and website and brand yourself for social media, it's going to be cheaper and a hundred times more powerful and you're going to be able to
generate leads for between 10 to $20 that are exclusive to you instead of being aided $130 for a duplicate even home advisor. So stop that finger out social media instead. Um, and also if you have an agency hired right now and you have like some type of, you know, paper need type of agreement, like that's the exact same thing because now that agency is going to generate lead time to their brand and their website and then sell it to you. So you're going to pay more for it. Then just do again doing it yourself and you're not building a brand and you're not building your audience so that you can retarget people neither. So you're missing out on everything. You're missing out on all of the good stuff.
So the people that makes the money is the agency and home advisor as well, you know, and yeah, so stop doing that. That brings me to point number five and that is that you need to stop doing TV and radio, right? So team or a do is super, super old school. And as I've talked about already, you know, the average American spends about two and a half to three hours per day right now social media. And that curve is just rising year by year by year. So why are you still trying to be tier on radio? If everyone is on their phone all day? It's like it doesn't make sense. It's very simple. Everyone is here, but you are still trying to do this own thing. You know, it's like, yeah, it's so crazy. So and TV, radio commercials, you can track the results. It's very inefficient. Um, it's expensive as well, right? If you're doing TV commercials, you know what I'm talking about. It's super expensive
and you might have your friends who you know, might, might know someone who runs this TV thing and they're like, Hey, come on John, let's do TBR. He's going to, you know, let's do TV. You're kind of stuck and you don't know what to do instead to just do it. And you just pay them a ton of money and you're like, maybe the phone starts to call, but you don't really know. You cannot track it. So stop doing TV and radio. We'll start doing branding and social media is that build your own audience. Start to retarget people, share videos and social media. Not only posting and talking about the target, people pay for getting views on social media, but it's going to be a couple of cents on the dollar to get a high flow from you can very few TV that's going to cost you thousands of dollars and you don't even know what's happening, right? So
yeah, stop TV. Even radio. The sixth thing that you need to stop right now in 2020 is that, you know, stop using Legion sites. Have already talked about it. Yeah. Now if you're still using home advisor and Angie's list boards and works and all this, just stop it. I don't need to talk more about that right now. I think just log in there, cancel everything and don't have a go back. And then the seventh and final thing is that stop doing Google. You know, Google bought Google SEO pay per click is, has been very, very popular for a long period time now. So pretty much
every roofing and solar contractor, they're doing SEO, they have like an SEO agency hired. So what happens when everyone does something is becomes very competitive. It takes a long time to get results and it becomes more expensive all the time. So if everyone is trying to rank for the same keyword and there's only 10 spots on the first page and you really want to get at the end of the top three or the top one, right? Like if there's only one spot to be hard and everyone's trying to do it, it's like, why are you competing so hard? It's so insane. And then paper click, same thing there. Everyone's trying to pay for the same keyword, right? So if everyone's trying to rank and pay from the same keyword, it's going to become expensive. So do not compete on Google. Why not escape the competition on Google?
Move over to social media marketing and figure that out because now we just escape the competition because the good thing is that most roofing is, all the contractors are still doing Legion sites, offline marketing and Google. That's where like 99% of the market currently is. They're all trying to compete doing that. So if you escape that, move over to social media marketing where the real market actually spends like two and a half hours per day. So if you can figure that out, you've not only escaped the competition, you're now where your target market is every single day. And if you can can get that to, to start working for you. That's when you get those 10 to 15 or 10 to $20 exclusive leads under a generator under your own brand and website. So what happens then where the homeowner starts to see those videos instead and they see it on their social media platforms? It's Ted on the TV and they see those videos day by
day, by day by day. So they started like the company, be impressed by the company, trust the company, and ultimately feel like the know this company, this, they feel like they know PSL or because they are, they've seeing them everywhere. So yeah, their sales conversions go up on as well. One of our other customers, a top 100 roofing contractor over the past five years,
I have been using this exact system for the past two years. They, you know, they reduce their cost per lead and claustrophobia customers with over 75% immediately by doing this transformation. They escaped home advisor, this AP even radio commercials, they escaped most of Google. They're still doing STOs longterm strategy and they're, I think they're paying for some type of simple keywords on still on Google as well. But there are huge companies so that they can afford that. But they're spending most of their money into social media marketing and into the system that we have. And they went from, let's see, $14 million in 2016 total revenue to $27 million in total revenue last year. Not saying that
