This is how you generate leads, like eight figure contractors
Hey guys, Max Perzon here. But for today's video I want to talk about how you can start to generate leads and customers for your roof from a solar contractor business like eight figure contractors and how they do it. So let's dive into it.
So the first thing that I want to do is just to tell you a quick story about two different of two customers of ours so that you know that this thing is actually for real. The first story is about Nolan's roofing from Florida and they are currently utilizing our system, Facebook advertising and social media to bring in new leads and new customers and to do the branding online as well. But before they started working with us and before they started to utilize our own lane sales system that we power with AI and marketing automation and all the, these new new technology called stuff, they weren't doing that previously. They were doing home advisor, they were doing a lot of Google ads, they were doing a lot of offline, you know, TV and radio commercials. I think they were doing some print as well. Then we're doing some SEO and they had a bad taste but marketing lead disease.
And in 2016 they made $14 million in total revenue according to roofing contractor.com and back then they were spending $50,000 per month on advertising, which was kind of insane. And they were getting duplicate leads from home advisor, you know, $430 leads and they were looking for something new. So I came in contact with owner there and Greg and they started to implement our system and we helped them out with Facebook advertising and social media and the results, well now two years later, now they're generating exclusive leads from social media for between 10 to $15 and these are exclusive leads to them that simultaneously build their brand because now they're can share videos and build that brand awareness as well online instead of on this thing, instead of utilizing the TB. So they went from spending $50,000 per month getting $130 duplicate leads. Now they're spending less than $20,000 per month into advertising.
They're getting more leads, they're getting exclusive leads, they're getting higher quality leads for between 10 to $15 per lead and they can save a bunch of money from those team radio commercials and all of their branding on social media, which is kind of insane. So they made $14 million in 2016 last year they grew to $27 million in total revenue according to roofing contractor.com and they are top 100 roofing contractor. Now five years in a row. I'm not saying that our system is only reason behind that. Not at all. You know, they are super good business people, super good are entrepreneurs, great business operations, and they have a great product and a great service that helped them to grow to that next level obviously. But what I'm saying is that they moved away from all of this old school offline type of marketing and now they're putting all of their advertisement dollars into our system and into social media marketing simply because it's working so freaking good.
So that's the first story about a roofing contractor. And the second story I want to tell do is buy the solar contractor. One of our customers, well eh, P S solar. And they reached out to us and wanted our help because they were struggling. They didn't have any type of marketing going for them at all, but they decided to don't be in feet first and test out what we were doing. So they did. And they started out with an advertising budget of $3,500 per month. And what happened within the first 90 days? Within the first three months, they went from low seven figures in total revenue to eight figures in less than 90 days, which is insane. And um, you know, they started to get a bunch of leads. They had to hire like 10 sales guys just to keep up with the demand, which were insane.
Uh, now since then they have expanded territory all across the state. They now have three different campaigns and they're just growing quickly. So this system that we have, it works both for roofing and solar contractors and it's working really damn good. And by the way, we also have video testimonials from these guys that are just told you about to make sure to go to lead truth and not come to check that out. But, so let's dive into the video. What is it that these guys are doing more in detail that are allowing them to scale to that next level? So the first thing they do is that they escape the crap. It's pretty simple. So they don't continue to waste money on lead generation sites such as home advisor and Angie's list and all this crap. Right? They moved away from that. They also moved away from these shady marketing agencies that has like pay per lead type of deal, right?
They tell you that they sell you exclusive leads, those marketing agencies and they do all of the advertising under their brand and then under their website and then you just pay them per lead service. Right? They moved away from that because that doesn't build your brand. That doesn't build up your brand recognition in your area since you're not owning the system yourself. So they moved away from services like that. Marketing agencies like that and move away from lead generation sites. They moved away from offline, not wasting money in TV and radio anymore. They moved away from, you know, not spending as much time and money on Google because Google is super competitive in the roof and the solar industry, both SEO and PaperClick and they stopped doing those, you know, tedious time consuming direct mail campaigns or billboards or only depending on referrals. You know, this is more common than you think.
I don't know what you're doing type of advertising, but I speak to logarithms, all contractors every week and a lot of them are just depending on referrals and they are kind of, they don't know why they're not growing. So yeah, it takes money to grow, but if you have a proven system in place that you can pour money into that, you know that if I put in a $1, I'm going to get $3 out. That's just how you keep the machine rolling. So that's the first thing they did. They escaped the crap. Super important, cut away the fat. Don't do those old school methods anymore. Just cut that away. Move over to social media instead. The second thing they did was to set up an automated online sales system for their business that they own and control themselves. I'm talking about a CRM system that they own and control themselves.
I'm talking about marketing automation system that they own and control themselves. They do all of the advertisement under their Facebook business page, under their website, on their brand. They're doing everything under their business, which is super important. You have to do the advertising under your brand and under your business because if you're not, you're missing out on like 90% of the entire thing. That's why just buying leads from lead sources and lead generation websites and lead agencies suck in my opinion because you're not building any brand awareness and doing anything of that. So you need to set up your own online sales system that you own and control yourself and we show you exactly how to do that step-by-step, click-by-click, literally showing you this is how you do one, two, three, a to Z, how to set up the system so that you own it and control it yourself.
You don't have any licenses or paying us monthly or anything. We just show you how to do it so that you can control your own advertising and you can automate it with marketing automation and artificial intelligence. So you don't need to know mud bunch about advertising or you don't need a marketing agency or an or an advertising in house team. Do you need a computer? So yeah, that's that they, that's the second thing they did. They set up an automated online sales system that's kind of the heart of online advertising and they own and control that themselves. Super important. The third thing that it did was that that they started to utilize the Facebook ads. They moved away from Google. Since it's so competitive, move away from offline home advisor and just list lead generation websites, all that crap, right? They moved over to Facebook.
Why? Well, the competition of Facebook in the roofing and solar industry is a lot lower compared to Google and all of these other things that I've just mentioned. So by just moving over to Facebook, you pretty much escape the competition. You get cheaper leads, you get higher quality leads, and you can advertise for leads obviously, but you can also build your brand on social media. You can't share videos, you can't share your logo on Google necessarily. It's just a surgeon. It's just a page. And if you think about it very objectively, it's like people search for keyword, you pop up and 15 of your competitors pop up on the same page. That's not optimal in my opinion. And if everyone is doing that, why do you want to do that if everyone is doing so by moving over to Facebook, your, your going to be the only referred shoulder ad in one place.
When they're home arena areas, he said they're going to see your logo, they're gonna see your headline, your copy text, they're gonna see your images, your videos. That's how you build brand and advertise for needs simultaneously on social media in 2020 and beyond. So Facebook is a game changer specifically for roofing the solar contractors. That's why they could spend $20,000 per month instead of 50 grand a month, as I talked about earlier. So Facebook ads is a huge game changer. However, the reason why not a lot of people are doing Facebook ads is it is a little bit harder to figure out the nation. You know, you need to know how to build the campaigns, what to write in the ads with images to use it. Not that it's not an S, he says just go into Google and just set up a, a, a, you know, a Google my business and just to pay for a keyword.
It's not that easy. It takes a little bit more practice and know how to do Facebook ads right away. But if you figure it out, it's a thousand times more powerful simply because you can advertise for leads under your own brand and on your own website and share videos and all of that. And we make it super simple at lead group in the calm. So you know, we show you exactly what to write in the ads, what images to use, what videos to use. We show you exactly what to target, what audience do you target. We show you click by click, how to create the campaigns, how to run the campaigns, how to automate the campaigns a child go through our training essentially. So we make it super, super simple to do Facebook ads for roofing. It's all the contractors. The fourth thing that they started to do is retargeting.
And retargeting is something that a lot of people talk about. And that a lot of people, some people seem to know about it, but I think actually most people don't know what it is. So what we're targeting is that when someone comes to your website, for example, or when someone goes to your Facebook business page or when someone just see your ad just once or see your video just once on Facebook, they might leave a, like they might click on it, they might leave a comment. What you can do when the people, when someone has just interacted with your brand one time, one 10th of a second is enough. It's that you can save that person in your own audience and then you can retarget them. And what retargeting is is that you can continue to show those people ads over time. You can show them ads on Facebook every single day.
Instagram ads, every single day, videos and images. You can show them ads on the Google display network. You can retarget them with YouTube videos, with banner ads. You can basically appear everywhere all the time. So when someone comes to your website, expense a secondary, and then they leave, you can save that person and that person, when he goes to Facebook, Instagram, or browses papered website, they're going to start to see ads from you guys everywhere, every single day. And the best thing about retargeting is that is that it's the most powerful type of advertising because you're on the advertising to people who already know who you are. And because of that, it's also dirt cheap. It's like $10 per day per 10,000 people, uh, that you have in your audience. So it's very cheap. It's very powerful and very effective. So that's what knows our customers start to do as well.
There's the implement a retargeting campaign that they run on cross platforms. Every platform out there, they're showing their ads right there. So that's how you bring the customers back. That's how we build that brand awareness to build that emotional attachments to the homeowners in your area as well. Let's take your business to that next level. The fifth thing is that they started to share branding videos on social media. So this is a huge thing now actually, because a lot of marketers and a lot of business owners don't think about this, but when you break it down, it's super, super simple. So branding is very, very powerful and direct response advertising is also a very, very powerful, powerful. But what we can do now that you haven't been able to do, I'm gonna tell this point, is that you can mix both of them on social media because think about it right now, the TV, the big old screen right there, that is the old screen.
That is a screen that is stationary at home that has been super expensive to, to advertise on. And uh, I think, I think it's like, I checked this up yesterday, it's like the average American still spends like three hours per day on the TV, which isn't saying I don't spend a minute on my TV and just have it on in the background from my videos and check a YouTube video once in a while. But that's kind of crazy. The average American are still spending about three hours per day on average on the TV. But this thing, do you know how much time the average American spends on this thing? On the phone, they spend about three hours per day and no social media, they spend about two and a half hours per day, and that's across all age groups. That's insane. So everyone's pretty much staring down their phone like all day.
And the difference between this screen and that screen is that they can care this screen with them. So instead of just doing, still doing TV commercial on my, all of that stuff, you can just do your branding on this thing. And the best part is that it's a lot cheaper. You can get high quality targeted use for from real homeowners that are in market and actively searching for your services. You can get views from this people to your branding videos for just a couple of cents on the dollar versus the back thing that's going to cost you thousands of dollars to do a TV commercial campaign. You cannot track anything. You have no idea who is watching that thing. So it's cheaper, it's more powerful. You can implement it to your retargeting. So when someone's comes to your website once they're going to start to see your branding content all over the place.
So why is branding so important? Well, I used to think that branding was just dumb stuff that you know, that agencies just did to kind of mask that they didn't know how to do real advertising and direct response. But the truth is that, you know, some of the biggest companies out there in the world are super good at Brandon, Coca-Cola, Apple, Nike, um, you know, all of these, um, all of these brands are like super, super good. So that's kinda got me thinking like, why, how do they do that? Like, and what branding real is, is that it's just that you control the perception of the company. And if you're not controlling the perception of your company, then who does really? And if you don't control the perception of your company, what do home owners think about? You might think that people have good thoughts about your company, but if you're not controlling the perception, you have really have no idea.
So what do I mean by that really? Well, if you're not brand in your business on social media, for example, if you're not showing videos about your employees, your uh, you know, what you stand for, um, video testimonials, your, your logo, your colors, shit. You know, controlling that perception of your company that you're real legit and actually give homeowners in your area a chance to start to like you and trust you. When you implement those videos and people start to like it and they start to trust you, it's going to be a ton easier to do online advertising for you because you don't have to sell that initial likeability on the first meeting when you go and meet them or on the phone call, you can pre-sell them and already get them to start to like you and trust you before you ever do business with them.
So if they start just in videos from you guys all over the place, that gives them a good feeling about your company. It's going to help you to sell more, sell more easier. And homeowner's gonna make the whole entire process for you a lot better. And if you're doing branding and your competitors don't, the chances are quite high that homeowner's gonna do business with you because they like and trust you. So that probably makes a whole lot of sense. And we've seen amazing results from doing branding on social media for our customers. It's insane. It's like when people start to see their videos and actually like them, it's like when people call them, they feel like they already know them. So yeah, so that's pretty much it for today's video, I think we started out with some story time about roofing a solar contractor and then I broke it down into like how are the in five steps, how they actually get such good results.
And the first thing was escaped the crap, cut away the fat. The second thing is you need an automated online sales system. The third thing, move over to Facebook. The fourth thing after new cross-platform retargeting on social media, and the final thing is that you need to do branding and you can do branding with videos on soap.
