But for today's video I want to talk about how you can buy high quality and exclusive roofing or solar leads for a business that scale and actually convert. I'm not talking about duplicate home advisor leads that you never get a hold of.
I'm talking about exclusive leads that scale that will scale your business to that next level and they do convert and you can follow up with them automatically. So to really drive this point home, I want to begin with a story and I want to begin with a story of one of our customers. Nolan's roots. I'm from Florida and their vice president, um, Justin Shelton and I have some notes here in front of me and we have video testimonials from these guys as well that you can watch on our website. So if you want to see that testimonial you can do that. But basically what they did was that prior to starting to working with us, utilizing our system isn't prior to starting to utilizing and raised them social media. They were paying between 80 to $130 per duplicate lead. And a that was from home advisor.
They were spending quite a lot of money on home advisor, their response than quite a lot of money on TV and radio commercials for branding purposes. And they were doing their own Google advertising. And as we all know, Google is super competitive. And roofing solar industry. Everyone is doing SEO, everyone's doing Google ads and paper click, so it's very competitive. Prices are high. It takes time to get [inaudible] results from SEO and yeah, it's just expensive and a lot of Tareq your leads and you can't build your brand. It's, yeah, it's not the best thing. If you ask me social media and Facebook advertising or just 10 times better, and after watching this video, I'm sure that you're going to agree with that as well, but that's really the transformation that they did. They went from 80 to $130 duplicate leads utilizing those lead as those lead sources that I just mentioned.
They moved over to Facebook and social media and now they're generating exclusive leads from Facebook for between 10 to $15 per lead. So they reduced their lead cost with more than 75% the really cool whole thing is that they used to spend $50,000 per month on advertising, TV, radio, home advisor, and Google. Now they're spending less than $20,000 per month into Facebook and social media and they're still getting more leads. The leads are exclusive that paid between 10 to $15 per lead and their conversion rates as one thought, and they can do branding on one platform. Instead of doing branding on team and radio and doing the lead flow from home advisor and Google, now they can do branding and lead from a lead flow from Facebook advertising and social media simultaneously. Why is everyone is doing watching down in this thing all day? Everyone's walking around like this.
So they embrace that and started to advertise on the phone and social media and that's how they were able to reduce the lead cost with over 75% in 2016 they made $14 million until the revenue last year they made $27 million in total revenue according to roof contractor.com and they moved away from all of these lead sources, you know, home advisor, team aerated commercials and go lads. I think they're doing some Google SEO for longterm strategy, but they've pretty much moved away from all of that and other putting all of their touching dollars into Facebook and together with our only stages. Again, I'm not saying that we and that we are the only reason behind that. Not at all. You know, obviously they are a super good company, great sales, great support, great service, great business operations, a great precedent and great vice-president. And they had some natural growth.
Of course, I'm not saying that our system and Facebook advertising is the only reason behind that doubling the eight big business. Not at all. I'm just saying that they moved away from all of these old op offline and expensive Legion sources, another only utilizing Facebook advertising and social media and they're paying 10 to $15 per exclusive lead now prior to $130 duplicate leads. So we're not the only reason, but yeah, it has hopefully helped their business at least 11 bit. And I think, uh, it has. Okay, so how did they do that? Sure, they moved over to Facebook, but what more did they do? So let me just break down a little bit more detailed for you so that you know exactly how they did it. So the first thing is that yeah, they moved over to Facebook and duh. Okay. But why you didn't move over to Facebook?
Well, the competition mainly because of the complication and the mainly because they adapted quickly and mainly because the word ahead of the curve and what did I mean by that? Well, everyone's doing Google. Everyone is doing Google ads and SEO. That's like the norm in the roofing solar industry. Yeah. I'm going to go to the Google. Yeah. Why? Well, that's what's work, right? The Google is working. Everyone else is doing Google, so I should also do Google. That's like the, that's what the market believes, but that's like the totally wrong way of thinking of things. It's like if everyone is doing Google, why are you going to do Google? Why do you want to compete with everyone? Why not move over to Facebook? If everyone's doing Google, why don't you move over to Facebook where the competition is pretty much nonexistent. Everyone's over here or Google competing.
They moved over to Facebook Walla. Now they don't have as high competition anymore. It's like non-existent. When you compare it to Google, they figured it out. How to do Facebook advertising the right way by just embracing social media. Um, they, they figured out how to do [inaudible] Facebook advertising the right way, building up campaigns, how to connect the Facebook advertising into a CRM system and only sale system with marketing automation, machine learning, big data and AI. They embrace that new technology and they implemented it, they tested it and took action. And um, yeah, they, that just, that's what gave them those results. They were able to escape home advisor $130 duplicate leads. And when they started to get three from the social media advertising starts working, now they're getting 10 to $15 exclusive leads by just moving over to a platform with less competition. And yeah, their, their entire market is on Facebook.
You know, it's this, if you think that, well, it's only junk people that's on social media. That's not true at all. Every age group is on social media. I think Facebook has like 230 million active users right now in North America. It's just insane. So it's everyone from like toddlers up to people of seven, five years of age or eight years of age or nine years of age. Everyone is on this thing, iPad or iPhone watching their social media videos, Instagram and Facebook and so forth. So that's the first thing they escaped the competition moved over to Facebook. The second thing is that the embraced marketing automation, and this ties into the online sales system, so the automated their advertising instead of getting leads from home advisor from team a radio commercials and from Google a bunch of leads coming in into the in email inbox or into an in to a spreadsheet.
Then taking that and putting into a CRM system manually follow up manually and I'll do all of that manual work. Now they embrace technology, marketing automation and machine learning and AI and they set up a CRM system for when a lead come in the computer into the CRM system automatically, no more manual work computers handled that handles that for them. The followup process is done automatically, no manual work there in the Morris wall. So the systemized, their, their, their there, their lead follow up in the process. They pretty much systemized it part of their sales process as well away. They still have this huge and great teams team that have to call the needs. Obviously we cannot uh, automate the actual calls yet. Who knows? Maybe in the future we will have robots who makes the calls as well, but um, they at least automated and systemized the CRM part of things.
And the follow up part of, that's the second, the third thing is they, they started to brand themselves on social media instead of on TV. So if you've done TV commercials, we business, right? I'm sure that you know that TV commercials and radio commercials are insanely expensive. It costs thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars tracking thing. You don't know if you're getting any more calls or if you don't, and it's a, you know, pretty much no one that's watching Disney, that big old screen over there. Why when can carry that screen with you when you go on the bus or on the train or in the car or whatever. And I might be like, you can carry that old big TB with you. However we you cam care with this screen with you. That's a big screen that it's stationary screen of home. This, this is a screen that you have with you 24 seven this is the new TV.
This is the TV. It's just smaller than that one and everyone carries with it. Phone or TV doesn't matters. It's exactly the same thing. Led screen led screen. So some people think that no, you know, you know this. This is not the new TV that everyone in the older target market, my target market, they still watch that screen. I'm like, what's the difference between this screen? It's just a screen. The difference with this queen is that everyone has it on the two one four seven so do you want to advertise on that thing that people just watch like an hour night or whatever? Or do you want to watch this thing that people watch like 24 seven and has in their pocket talk to you anyways, they started to the branding on this thing instead of TV. So they did branding on this screen instead of that screen.
The results, well they can share their videos more often to more people and they don't have to spend as much money. So again, I mentioned this, they used to spend 50 grand a month and under spending less than 20 grand a month and they're getting more leads and doing the brand instantaneously. So on social media you can get used on your commercials or in your branding videos for just a couple of cents on the dollar. And if you do it on the TV, the process takes super long time. It's going to cost you a bunch of money in a bunch of other crap. Sorry my French. But, um, yeah, so they started to do branding and social media, which just helps them with the conversion rates and the sales process and so forth because you evoke emotion in, you control the perception of your brand. And um, if you know a little bit about branding, you know that it's super, super powerful when you know what the right way, you know, there, there's uh, you know, just just look at some of the biggest brands in the world, you know, Nike in Apple, Coca-Cola, you know, when, when do you think of Nike?
You know, I don't think of the best shoes in the world. I think of athletes, I think of tiger woods and um, you know, Michael Jordan and all of these athletes and that's how they do their branding. They, they, they honor athletes and great athletics. So, and they are like one of the biggest brands in the world. So branding is super powerful when you know it and know how to do it the right way. And you should definitely do branding through briefness all the business on this thing. All social media sharing videos, create high quality videos. And shared as much as you can on this thing. And then you mix that with director's warm side. So yeah, that's pretty much what they did. And that's the story about them. One utilize Facebook advertising. The second thing, marketing automation automated the, their, their sees presence. And number three, they started to do branding and media.
