But for today's video, I want to talk about how do actually highly successful roofing a solar contractor advertised in 2020 and beyond. So let's dive right into it. So the first thing that I want to discuss is automates and utilize proven systems.
So what do I mean by this? While now we in 2020 we when we have highly powerful computers, we have artificial intelligence, we have machine learning, marketing automation, big data and a bunch of other cool stuff we can automate. We can systemize our businesses by utilizing computers. We don't need like 20 person advertising teams working for us in house anymore. All you really need is to have a computer working for you that never complains. It works like a workhorse day and night, 24 seven three 65 and that's what pilots are successful roofing and solar contractors understand they cyst mice, they're advertising this systemize their business a lot with computers so they have a proven system in place. And what do I mean by that? Well, you need a conversion system in place. You need a CRM system that you automate with marketing automation so that if you spend $2,000 per month in advertising for example, you start to get traffic to your business.
You need a system that will convert that traffic into leads, people requesting for estimates versus for example, and you need that system to convert the leaves into new customers. And then you need to do the branding as well. And you also need to be able to automate the followup process also that you don't have to sit there and send out emails or call people manually to follow up with people. You don't have to do that anymore. So the cool thing when you automate the system, when the, when you have a proven system in place where your business is that you can start off small spending $1,500 per month or $2,000 per month into Facebook advertising for example, getting more, more eyeballs into your system and into your conversion system. But you can also scale it up. Since it's automated by computers and not by humans, you can go from $2,000 per month to $20,000 per month in advertising spend if you want to.
The system is going to work just as good for $2,000 as it's going to work for $20,000. So this is the really cool thing. You know, the, the, the uh, the trash hold is not going to be getting more leads into your business anymore because you can just spend more if you have a proven system in place where you know that, Hey, if we spend $1, we're gonna pump out $3 at the end of it, you know, the trash hole, there's not going to be getting more leads to business. It's going to be how do we like hire more people? How do we change our business operations so that we can handle all of this new demand that we get from advertising online? And that's what happened for one of our customers, Austin Miller, they went from low seven to eight figures within the first three months and you had to hire like 10 new salespeople just to keep up with the demand.

The second thing that you need is that you need to understand direct response advertising and you need to know how to track your KPIs. So when you have a proven system in place, you should do direct response advertising. And what is direct response advertising? Well you crossed your ads and your campaigns in a way that you want the direct response from the people who see that. So for example, you pitch a free estimate and you want people to take a specific action, you know, fill in your name, email, phone number, an address to request a free estimate. That is a direct response ad. You know, a branding ad is normally just a big image with like logo on it and a direct response ad has an image.
It doesn't headline normally a little bit longer body copy text and it has a call to action. You wanted direct response. So you do direct response simply because you can track everything. You can track your results down to the dollar, down to the, yeah, you know, down through to the dollar. How are your marketing efforts are performing essentially? And this is crucial. If you want to advertise like high list, such successful groupness, all the contractors do. They know down to the dollar how their marketing efforts are performing. They know from day to day, how much money did they spend on advertising yesterday? How many leads did we get? How much did we pay per lead? How many new customers did we get? How much did we pay to acquire new customer? How much cashflow did we get into the business and so forth, right? So they know from day to day down to the dollar how their marketing efforts are performing.
And it's super simple. When you have an automated system in place that pretty much runs for itself and you can just check on the numbers from day to day. That's what you do. If you want to, you know, compare that to someone just throwing a bunch of money on the bottle wall on TV and radio commercials and direct mail campaigns when you can't track anything, you know, it doesn't even compare, right? So you want to be able to track all of your results, track the KPIs, the key performance indicators. We should, it might sound confusing and hard, but it's super simple. We showed you how to do that and on our website step by step, click by click from a to Z. It's taking someone from not knowing anything about Facebook advertising or marketing automation and at the end of that, you know you have a full blown the advertising campaign running for your business and it's automated with AI and machine learning, marketing automation and all that good stuff.
So you need to do direct response ads and you need to know your numbers, you need to track your results. The third thing that highly successful roofing solar contractors do is that they brand their business and more specifically their branding their business on social media. So they've pretty much abandoned that old TV back there. Why it gives, not a lot of people are watching that thing anymore. Like the average American are spending three and a half hours per day on their phone and I think it's like two and a half hours per day on social media. So if you want to brand your business, this is the place you should, you should brand yourself. People are walking around with this thing, they're watching it when they're dry and you know, going on their bus or people even watch this thing when they're having dinner with their families.
It's insane, right? So the average American are spending two and a half hours per month, per day, sorry, on social media, the average American. So some people are spending a ton more than that. So highly successful roofing and solar contractors, they are branding themselves obviously because you want to do, you want to control the perception of your company. You want to give homeowners in our area a chance to know more about you. You want to control the perception so that people feel like likely know you, they like you, they trust you. And when people like and trust you, that's when they're going to do business with you. So that's why it's, it's a, if you're not doing any type of branding right now, you know you should do it. And previously it used to be super hard and expensive to do branding on that, that thing.
But now it's more easier than ever. It's cheaper than ever and it's more powerful than ever to do branding on this. Then it just, cops costs you a couple of cents to get high quality views on this thing from your branding videos. So that's what highly successful roofing solar contractors do. They have a proven system in place. They do direct response advertising, they know their numbers down to the dollars that are KPIs. They do that direct response advertising mixed with branding content on social media. And I'm not talking about, you know, just hosting videos on your Facebook business page and then just leave it there and hope that you're going to get a bunch of views that doesn't work. You know, the, the organic reach on those social media platforms are declining every single week it feels like. So you need to know how to distribute your brand and content on social media with paid traffic campaigns.
And when you're tracking everything down to the dollar. And when you know your KPIs, you know you can build the campaigns in such a way, both you, your direct response ads and your branding ads or campaigns so that you know that you are getting a, an ROI on it all the time. So why shouldn't you do it?
Don't do lead gen sites. I'm not even gonna talk about that in this video. The fourth thing is that you need to follow up and you need to do retargeting. So the followup process is super important. You know when someone shows interest in your business, they request a free estimate with a lot of people do. They either buy the lead from a Legion site or from Legion service. They get the lead. If they don't answer, they're like, Oh, okay, they didn't answer and then you just leave it right there. Forget about them in their email inbox. You don't want to do that. When you get a lead into or automated online sales system, the lead comes in, you call them directly. Hopefully you know you can qualify them and set an appointment and so forth, but if they don't answer, maybe they had to walk their dog or whatever.
Now might be right. People have millions of reasons why they don't answer your phone the first, if you want to follow up with them and you want to automate that process, you don't want to sit there every single day doing, you know, manual followup with your emails and texting people. You know, you can automate that. You can text people, you can send images and not images, but you can send emails to them automatically or you can automate it with marketing automation. So you need to do follow up, but you need to automate it. And we show you how to do that in this online sales system with marketing automation and AI. So follow up is super important. And the most successful roofing solar contractors out there, they go hard on the followup process. You know, you follow up, you follow up, you stay in front of them, you serve impressions, you'd be top of mind.
And that's how you make business with people. Build your brand, build that trust to people. Um, get that emotional attachment to them. Get people to like and trust you. Follow up. And that's how people decides to do business with you instead of your competitors. So followup is super important, but then also retargeting. So what retargeting is, it's kind of an a followup thing as well. And the branding thing and the direct response thing. And so what retargeting is is that if someone just comes to your website just once or they see your Facebook ad just once, or they go to your Facebook business page just once or they see your YouTube video just once or they see your Google display banner ad. Just once, you know, if someone, you see your brands wherever now might be online, if they just interact with you once you, once you can save that person in an audience and then you can start to re target them.
You can start to show them ads over and over and over again on all platforms every single day. So if someone just comes to your website and was, Oh this look interesting, and then they forget about you and leave the site when they log into Facebook and Instagram and like YouTube in a couple of hours, you're going to appear everywhere. So that's retargeting. And that's kind of a followup process as well. So if someone sees your, your ad and they're like, Oh this looks interesting but I don't got time for this now. So they leave the ad, then you can retarget them. Tried to get them back to your online sales system and then into the followup process. So retargeting a followup is super, super powerful and super important right now. If you want to scale your business to that next level. And the truth is that, you know, not a lot of roofing of solar contractors out there are taking action on this thing.
I talked to so many people and they are like, they don't take action on it. Some the people who do take action and actually implement it that are the successful ones, they are the ones who are on the ball, you know, finding things, testing things and just go for it. The people who are like, yeah, no blue, no, never, nothing is never happening for them. So yeah, we need to follow up. You need to do retargeting, you need to do social media. Don't spend your money on fricking, you know, those lead gen sites or advertising agencies that can send you paper needs. It's just, it's shit because you're not building your brand that way. You need to own your own system, move over to social media, Facebook advertising, and start to figure that out. It's, that's how you win. I've seen people going from, you know, struggling with only depending on referrals, implementing the system and going from low seven to eight figures in less than 90 days.
It's insane. So this is the real deal. So yeah, and if you want to know more about that, you know where to go. The fifth and final thing that successful roofing solar contractors do when it comes to advertising is that they spend a lot of money on it and you don't have to spend a lot of money initially, but what successful in rudeness, all the contractors do is that they get all of these things that I've talked about up until this point, right? They get that in place to have the proven automated system that converts traffic into leads and customers. They do the direct response ad, they track everything so they know how the results are going and they do social media branding. They do this full warp or targeting when they get all of this in place. And they might start off spending $3,500 per month into advertising into the system, and then they're like, Hey man, this is a thousand times more powerful and better than team or radio commercials and home advisor and Google ads, like we should spend a lot of money on this.
And then they just ramp it up. So some of our customers started out with $3,500 per month or $2,500 per month. Now they're spending a little bit less than $20,000 per month. It's like they've ramped it up to like 19 K per month or something like that. And this is a customer, by the way, that used to spend $50,000 per month previously on TV, radio commercials, home advisor and Google ads. They used to spend 50 grand a month on advertising and they made $14,000 in revenue. Now they're spending less than $20,000 per month on advertising, getting more needs for cheaper, cheaper leads, instead of paying $130 per duplicate lead. Now that they're getting exclusive leads for between 10 to 15 they're doing branding online and on social media and they grow their business to $27 million in total revenue last year, a court according to roof and contractors and.com so, and I'm not saying that we're an hour system and Facebook advertising is the sole reason behind that.
Not at all. I'm not doing an income claims at all whatsoever. I'm just seeing that they used to spend 50 grand a month. Now they're spending less than half. They're getting better results from it.
