In today's livestream, I will talk about how a roofer doubled his eight figure business and reduced his cost per lead with over 75%

Basically just explaining how we help a roofer who's already an eight figure business. Back then in 2016, they made $14 million until revenue and they were already a top 100 roofing contractor.
And I'm basically the transformation that they went through after starting working with us and started to implement Facebook advertising and social media for it, for their business instead. So last year they actually grew to close to $27 million and they have now reduced their cost per lead with over 75%. And I'm not claiming that our service and what we do is the only reason behind that, uh, you know, they are, they're obviously very good business people and have had a natural growth over time, of course. But I can tell you that they're moved away from everything that they did previously in terms of advertising, uh, that I will talk about here in a second. And now they're only utilizing our system, social media and Facebook ads. So that's pretty cool in my opinion. But let's go back to the beginning and actually talk about what this company did before they started working with us. So they had a pretty hefty advertising budget. They were pumping out around $50,000 per month on advertising back then. And they were doing a bunch of TV and radio commercials. They were doing Google and also home advice, right? And we all know that that home advisor is not what it used to be prior to 2012 when they were called service magic. Nowadays, uh, you know, the leads are expensive and duplicate like hundred to $130 per lead and you have to share them with like up to five other contractors, which is kind of insane. It's very hard to close them since all of these other contractors are trying to contact them as well. And it's just a big mess. Uh, also Google that they were utilizing is so competitive right now in the roofing industry, everyone is doing Google ads and everyone has an SEO agency hired as well, trying to rank for the same keywords.
And it's just insane, right? So it's a, it's expensive. It's a competitive, it takes a long time to get results and uh, yeah, it can be very frustrating because you hire an agency to do the work for you and then this agency is not only helping you but all of your competitors as well. So they were doing HomeAdvisor, Google. And lastly they were doing putting a lot of money into TV and radio commercials, kind of just throwing a bunch of money at the wall and see what sticks. And you know, TV and radio commercials works for branding purposes of course. But the downside is that, you know, it's super expensive. Uh, you have to spend thousands upon thousands of dollars to actually do a TV commercial. And then the truth is that not a lot of people actually watch the TV animal, right? This is the new TV, this is the new radio that the new magazine, um, the new new source and all of that, right?
So basically the transformation that they did was to move away from that old TV back there, prints and Google and home advisor and moved over and learned how to master this thing. How do we actually start to advertise on this thing? So that's kind of the transformation, uh, that they did. And I will break it down here very shortly, but, uh, just to cover the, the most important parts first is that again, they were making $14 million back then in total revenue. They were spending 50 grand a month on advertising, getting a lot of duplicate leads for about $130 each. Last year, uh, after having utilized our system of Facebook advertising for close to two years, they made $27 million in total revenue and they, they are not spending 50 grand a month on advertising and more now they're spending less than $20,000 per month and they're giving more leads and exclusive leads and they're getting leads now for between 10 to $15 per lead.
And then they don't need that team anymore to do their branding for them. Now we can actually do the branding on this thing because we can still utilize the high quality videos that they have created, but we can distribute them on the social media networks instead to build their brand that way. Because as you probably know, everyone is walking around like this nowadays staring down their phones. So, uh, yeah, it's, it's super powerful when you learn how to do both direct response advertising on social media where you can track everything and you can get high quotes and exclusive leads from homeowners, you know, opting in with name, email, phone number and address for free estimate. And you can also do branding simultaneously. Um, so that's, that's what they did. They moved away from home advisor, offline marketing methods and Google moved over to Facebook and social media.
So how did we actually do that? What did we actually implement for them and how did we get such good results for them? Well, it really comes down to three different components and the first component is the traffic, right? So where are you going to go get the traffic from? Where are you going to get the attention from when you do advertising? And we decided to leave Google home advisor and all of those offline marketing methods behind simply because you know, you can track anything. Google is super competitive and you know, offline marketing methods are expensive and you can attract anything there neither. And those Legion sites are bad. You're just paying a lead generation, uh, you know, home advisor a bunch of money and they are really the ones who are holding all of the cash, right? So we moved over to Facebook and started to generate the traffic at the end attention from Facebook instead, simply because the competition right now on Facebook, in the roofing and solar industry is like non-existent when you compare it to Google.
There's not a lot of roofers doing Facebook advertising right now, building campaigns the right way. So when you move over to Facebook and learn how to do Facebook advertising the right way, you will be able to start generating higher quality leads for cheaper prices, essentially, since the competition is pretty much nonexistent on Facebook. So that's the first thing. We moved over to Facebook. That was the biggest change. Um, the second biggest change was that we helped them to implement an online sales system, which they did not have previously. So prior, you know, you, when they utilized HomeAdvisor on those other Legion sites, they got like email leads sent to them either directly to the phone, people calling them or the God, um, you know, from home advisor, the God the leads into like an Excel sheet and they had to like export those leads and put them into their own CRM system manually.
Just a bunch of manual work. And the leads from Google were also sent to their inbox. So they had no real online sales system in place. They had like no heart, uh, where they could like that was thought through when connected to their advertising. So that's the second thing that we sold for them and online sales system where all of the leads that we generated from Facebook, we can put them into the CRM system. But utilizing marketing automation and machine learning and, and uh, artificial intelligence or so we can automate this entire process. We didn't have to do any manual work putting leads into the CRM system anymore. Now we could save the leads into the CRM system fully automatically. We could send out confirmation emails to the homeowner with text and email fully, automatically. Uh, we can send out the lead information to the sales reps fully automatically as well.
We could also do the followup process, uh, to the homeowners. So if they don't sign up or, uh, you know, uh, converted into a customer right away, then we can follow up with them, of course. But we can automate that as well in a very personal way, uh, by utilizing marketing automation. And then finally, so that, that's like the first part is the traffic and Facebook. The second part is the system that they needed. And the third part was that we needed to escape TV and radio commercials for branding purposes. Right? We couldn't do that anymore. You know, it's still kind of works, but it's super expensive. So the third thing that we implemented for them was a branding campaign on, on social media as on Facebook, Instagram, and also on YouTube. So they had great videos for their business already, but they had just posted these videos kind of organically on their Facebook page and on their YouTube.
So what we did is, was that we started to share those videos a in a retargeting campaign as it's called. So someone, when someone had just got to their just once or interacted with their Facebook ads just once or if they had just seen their Facebook business page just once, then we could start to retarget them. And we, we retargeted a lot of those people with branding videos. And the reason why you want to do branding of course is because branding, what it really means is branding is a, you know, you want to control the, the perception of your company, what like what do people actually think of your company. Uh, you want to control that. You obviously want homeowners in their area to have a positive perception of you and your business. And that, um, if you control that perception in, if you control the branding and if you do branding in a good way, your sales process is going to be come a lot easier because homeowners will kind of feel that, uh, you know, that they already know you before he ever tried to sell them anything.
So that's why branding is so important. Um, so that's kinda odd. That's kind of the, the transformation that we did. We moved away from those competitive platforms that are expensive and duplicate leads and all of that. You know, home advisor and Google and team arrayed commercials. We moved over to social social media, Facebook advertising, hooked them up with an online sales system that we automated with marketing automation. And then we also injected a branding campaign where you're placing all of their great videos and the results was that we helped them to go from $60 million to $27 million. We helped them to reduce their monthly advertising spend from 50 grand a month to less than 20 grand a month, which is still a lot, but, uh, you know, they're, they're getting a lot better ROI right now from doing that and we helped them to go from $130 leads down to 10 to $15 leads.
