Hey guys, Max Perzon here. But for today's video, I want to cover five different things that you should consider before you ever spend a dollar online for advertising your roofing or solar business or for your contractor business, eh, as well. So let's dive into it right away. So the first thing that you should think about before you ever spend a dollar online in terms of advertising is that do not use lead generation sites.
You know, I know that it's tempting, it is very popular, but don't spend a dollar there. There are so many better alternatives that you can do for your roof. In the solar business, if you just spend some time investigating it and learning it. So don't spend a dollar on lead generation sites, you know, home advisor reports or address lists or all of these other sites, right? They promise you the world, it sounds really good. The platform looks beautiful. They tell you they have millions of visitors and so forth. Then you sign up and you pay, you know, 80 to $130 per lead and the leads are duplicate and you're just disappointed. You're spending thousands of dollars per month and you might just get a couple of phone calls. You're not building your brand. You're not building your own platform, your CRM list, you're not advertising. Um, you know, you're not building your brand simultaneously as they advertise for leads and it's just a mess.
And you know, pink eat it $130 per duplicate lead. It's just insane when you compare it to what you can do online nowadays. If you just know what you're doing, you know if you can do Facebook advertising and social media advertising instead, if you can set up your own online sales system, you can start generating exclusive leads for between 10 to $20 that you can follow up with on autopilot that you can build. You can build your brand awareness in locally simultaneously. [inaudible] advertise for leads. You can build your own audience as it's called. You can start to retarget people and show people in your state or in your area, ads on social media, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube and the Google display network as well. You can just build your own ideas. You can just retarget those people with ads over and over and over and over and over again.
If you compare that getting leads for between 10 to $20 that are exclusive to you, that build your brand, that's just amazing. You compare that to your lead gen site being aided, $130 per duplicate lead, you know, five other contractors who received the same lead. You can never follow up with them again. It's been just bunch of tire kicker leads and so forth, right? It's like, don't do that. Don't ever spend a dollar on lead generation sites anymore. I know that you've, you've done it previously. You most certainly don't like it. So that's thing number one. Do not spend a dollar on lead generation sites. The second thing is do not depend on Google, okay? I know that if you're running a roof in the solar business right now, you're most likely doing some type of Google advertising right now, right? It's very popular, at least in the roofing industry, to do both Google SEO and Google ads, you know, paper click.
It's super, super popular because of that. Since it's so popular, it's very competitive. And what happens when something is competitive, it becomes expensive, right? And it also becomes super hard to get results. And don't get me wrong, I am a big believer in SEO. I've been doing SEO myself since early 2014 I've been ragging sites on Google generating hundreds of thousands of visitors promoting other people's products. Uh, we just called Amazon affiliate marketing. I used to do that before and actually I'm still doing it. I'm still generating cashflow from that to my business. But SEO takes time. It takes time. And kind of the whole idea with SEO is to find the niche where the competition is not that high so that you can start ranking your website quite easy. So you want to find a niche. If I want to promote products, for example, you want to find a niche that's very popular, has a lot of the searches, and the competition is low in the roofing of solar industry.
It doesn't get it. It gets some searches, right? Some homeowners are searching for it. It is quite popular. So there's demand. But the competition on Google in the roofing solar industry is just through the roof. Literally. It's insane. Everyone is doing SEO, everyone has like an SEO agency hired working for them. And more often than not, this local SEO agency that they have hired for the roof knows all the business. That agency is not only helping them, but they're helping all of their competitors as well. So now everyone is hiring the same guy to do SEO for them and they're wondering why they're not ranking because they're just competing against themselves and it's just insane. So you shouldn't depend on Google. If you have a great SEO agency helping you, it can be a great complimentary to a paid traffic source, let's say. But still Google is so competitive.
Everyone is doing Google. So why do you want to spend money in? It's super competitive advertising methods. It's kind of insane, but everyone does it because everyone else is doing it. So why should an I do it if you know it's the mindset is just crazy. Why? Why compete? You know, why spend a lot of time and money there if it's so hard and PaperClick it's also very competitive and the, you know, Google pay per click is becoming more expensive all the time. So there are better alternatives out there. So don't depend on Google too heavily. That's the second thing. The third thing is that you should figure out social media. Why? Because of this thing. If you just walk outside right now and you take a look on people, what are they doing? They're walking like this is like a new body part from people.
Everyone is like walking like this. 24 seven three, six, five everyone is doing Facebook, everyone's on Instagram. Everyone is watching things on YouTube. Everyone is browsing all the time watching their phones all the time. And if you don't believe me, if you think that social media is just for the younger generation, no man, that's just a false belief that you had. You know the Junger generation is on social media a lot. It's always, you know, people between 20 to 30 and so are people between 30 to 50 years of age. You know, my parents are on social media pretty much everyday and my grandmother is on social media everyday on Instagram. They, they're watching videos on YouTube, they're interacting with friends and family on Facebook and messenger. Everyone is on social media right now. So if you're not advertising on social media for the roofing solar business because you think your target market isn't there, you know, you're just fooling yourself.
They've roofing the most successful roof in this. All the contractors that I've been fortunate enough to interact with and work with, some of my most successful customers, they have figured out the social media game and not posting organic content, but how do you create campaigns on Facebook and Instagram? How do you build your brand on Facebook and Instagram and YouTube? How do you share videos and distribute videos on this thing, which is by the way, a lot cheaper to share videos on this thing. Then on that old TV thing, right? Then TV commercials are super expensive and it's just insane. You need to learn how to build your brand on this thing. How do you share content and how do you share videos about your business on this thing so people start to like you before they ever do business with you? That's kind of the whole secret.
Do ads drive leads into your business? Don't show social media. Sure. Videos that build your brand on social media as well. When you mix direct response advertising as it's called with branding on social media, your sales process, it's going to be insanely more easier. You're going to get more customers, more leads, or the ultimate to be able to scale your business to that next level. Because see, because people trust you. They have seen videos from you on social media before they ever requested for yes and for you. So the sales process becomes a lot easier because people already know you. That's kind of the name of the game right now. We need to figure out social media, how to do advertising on social media. So that's the third thing, figuring out social media. The fourth thing is ties together with Thurman. And that is learn how to brand online with videos, videos, there's no, you know, I'm doing these videos because I know that it helps me to build my brand.
It helps if a potential customer, if a roof and the solar contractors see this video and they see my face, they see me talk, you know, whether you like it or not or whether you want to or not, you see me and somehow I, you tie them in emotional attachment to me. Either you like me, maybe you don't like me, maybe you trust me. B, maybe don't trust me, and hopefully the, most of the people that watch me, they're like, Hey, this guy seems to know what he's talking about. He seems pretty cool. They to go over to our website, [inaudible] dot com they see some videos. Hey, he actually has real video testimonials from roofing solar contractors. It's been helping them to get great results in it. He'd been able to help them to, to scale their business to that next level, going from low seven eight figures in less than 90 days of an eight figure contractor to double his business.
Going from $130 leads to 15 or $10 leads. You know, and hopefully my whole idea with those videos is, is to build my brand and simultaneously, as I, as I advertise from deeds and videos are super, super powerful when it comes to online advertising. Now, since everyone is on this thing and social media and you, I'm not saying that you have to create videos every single day like I do talking into a camera and so forth. But if you can create a commercial video for your company where you share stories about your brand, about your, um, employees, about your customers' testimonials, if you create a high quality value for your business, then it might cost you some money created. But if, if you can invest in a high quality branding video for your business that doesn't necessarily sell anything, you want to just want to brand yourself.
You know, you want to control the perception of your company, right? That's what branding is. If you can create a video like that and you learn how to distribute it on this thing with paid traffic, I'm just posting it on your Facebook page, getting 50 views in two months. No, no, no. You need to create it. Then you need to learn how to distribute it with pay traffic, which is very, very cheap online right now, right? So you can get thousands and thousands of views from whole numbers in your state and in your area for just a couple of cents per view. That is how you build your brand online. And videos are super, super powerful. You don't have to pay a TV commercials thousands of dollars anymore. You can pay social media platforms to share your videos that people actually watch. People are watching this thing all the time. So you need to learn how to create high quality videos for branding purposes and shared on this thing simultaneously as you advertise for leads as well.
Because you want to build your brand, you want people to trust them like you before they ever do business with you. And because that's just going to make everything a lot easier for you and videos are insanely, insanely powerful. So that's point number four. Brand your business with the videos. Point number five audiences are the new email lists. Okay, and what do I even mean by that? What is an audience and why is that the new email? Well, let me explain. So what you can do online nowadays is that you can install like a small code on your website and you can hook that up to all the bigger advertising platforms out there. So you can hook it up to Google, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. But YouTube is Google, right? So you can have like a small pixel on your website. And what that pixel is doing is that whenever you get an ambition through to your website, you can, you can save them in an audience.
So you can, if, if, if I go to your website right now, let's say you can place a cookie in my browser, meaning that you can identify who I am, you can know what my Facebook profile is, you know, um, Google knows who I am. YouTube knows who I am. And so Instagram knows who I am. And whenever you get a new website, visitors to your website or someone visits your Facebook business page, or someone just sees your ad just once, if they just see your video on Facebook or Instagram, just once, for example, you can also save those people in like a bucket. And that's what we call an audience. What can do with this audience, meaning that if someone hasn't seen your brand once online, just spend a second on your website, just spend a second on your Facebook business page or just watch your video for one second on whatever platform and Matt and now my D, we can save that person into the audience.
And then what you can do with this audience is that you can continue to show those people ads and videos over and over and over again. And that's called retargeting. And that's what happens to you with, for example, if you go to Amazon, you check a pair of shoes and then you just start to see those shoes everywhere where you browse online. When you go to Facebook, when you go to Instagram, those shoes, and just kind of just following you around. And that's called the targeting. And that's what you can do with audience nowadays. And if you're not building your audience or your roof in the solar business right now, yeah, you're just, I'm sorry to bring it to you, but you're missing a big, there's no reason you should not build your audience, you from this whole business right now because what you can do with that audience is insanely powerful, but the truth is pretty much no one out there in that right now is specifically, you know, my customers in the U S and when I interact with roofers, and it's not their fault by the way, but pretty much no one knows that you can do this and they more than that, they have no idea how to do it.
But if you can learn how to build your own audience and start to retarget people with ads, it's just going to take your business to that next level of management yourself. If someone comes to your website just once, then they leave your website and then forget about you. That's what most people do right now because they don't have an audience. But if someone comes to your website and you have that pixel installed, they come to your website once and then they start to see online everywhere. Do you think that's powerful? Do you think that's going to build your brand? If you have high quality videos, sharing those audience, do you think that's going to help you build your brand and build trust with homeowners in your area? Of course it is. Do you think it's going to help you improve your sales conversions? Of course that is.
Do you think homeowners going to start to like you more have a better feeling about your, like your brand, like your business better. Do you think homeowners split will feel more comfortable doing business with you if they've seen ads from you guys all over the place and see seem high quality videos from you guys where you, where you control your brand? Do you think they're going to be more likely to do business with you? Of course. The only thing that is going to contact to contact you guys instead of your competitors. If your competitors are not doing any branding or ads, of course they are. You know, it's just you just need to know how to do it and you just need to know that you can do it. And that's what, uh, that's why I do these videos.
