But for today's video, I want to talk about the sixth, the sixth best and worst advertising methods for your roofing solar industry in 2020 so my idea with this video is to start off with the worst one and then we'd go down the list to the best one, right?
So let's begin with the worst absolute worst advertising method in 2020 that you should avoid. At all costs and I'm sure that it's not surprise to you. That's Legion sites, right? Stop using lead generation websites and I'm talking about obviously home advisor and Angie's list and work's important. All of these different lead generation websites. Well, why should they stop using them? I'm sure that you already know that answer, but if you don't, let me repeat it so you can duplicate leads, right? The leads are shared to between three to five different contractors, which is super bad, right? The leads are super expensive between 80 to $130 but duplicate, lead big, no, no. Sometimes even more. I've heard horror stories, people spending two to three grand a month getting like one or two people on the phone, super bad. The third reason is that you're not doing any branding when you utilize those lead generation websites.
So what happens? You'll give home advisor a bunch of money. They take that money, they start to brand and advertise themselves under their own brand. So they basically build their brand or bigger finding new homeowners and so forth. Then they generate some leads and then he just pumped them out to to duplicate leads to different roofing contractors. Right? So the ones who are suffering is pretty much you. The roofing contractor, the ones that makes money is home advisor. So home advisor builds their brand for those advertising dollars. You don't build your brand for those advertising dollars. You see the problem here, right? So what do you need to do instead is what I'm going to talk about here in a second. But that's the worst possible. The advertising methods in 2020 lead generation website, stop using them. The fifth worst hard. The second worst advertising method that I recommend that you stop using is offline marketing methods, right?
So it's 2020 you know it's 2020 and some people are still doing a bunch of offline marketing methods, you know, team or radio commercials. Why are you still doing that? You know, nobody watches the TV anymore. The average American spends two and a half hours per day on social media and three hours on top of that, on their phones, on this screen. So why do you still advertise on the TV? Doesn't make any sense. It's expensive. You can target the right people. It's just bad. You know, print, direct mail campaigns and nightmare. You can track anything. It's time consuming. A bunch of manual work. You can't personalize it. It's bad. And you can track anything. As I just mentioned, you have no idea if it's working or not. You also have billboards and magazines and you know, yard signs, you know, and wrapping your truck, which could be good, right?
That looks good and so forth. And yard signs can work sometimes if neighbors and stuff see it. But like spending a bunch of money on billboards. Why and magazines. Why? This is the new magazine. When was the last time you saw someone on the, on the bus or on the train or walking down the street reading a magazine? I, it's not too many people. Most people are walking like this every single day. So figure this thing out instead. Also, we have call centers and door knocking, right? Everybody likes to be dormant, right? Maybe not. And I love to be cold called by a salesperson. Trying to sell me without me knowing who he is or what company represents. So no, stop using cold offline marketing methods shouldn't be our main advertising methods in 2020 if it is, you know, usually you're just going to get run over by the people that figure out social media. So yeah, that's what I have to say about that. I just did one, I think I wanted to mention something else here and offline.
Maybe not. I think I had no, I had no, so yeah, I dunno. Offline is just bad stuff. Using fourth thing on the list is marketing agencies basically outsourcing your work to marketing agencies and you might ask him like what max shouldn't we like outsource the work to an agency? Like somebody has to do the work, right? Yeah, that's true. But you know that somebody can be a computer nowadays we have marketing automation, we have AI, we have machine learning and marketing automation. So you can basically set up then the system 40 business in house and you can set up advertising campaigns on Facebook for example. And then you can pretty much automate this entire system. You press play, you start to advertise a face. If you tell Facebook, Hey, I want to spend $100 per day, or maybe you want to spend $500 per day depending upon your company, right, and how much you want to advertise for, and then you pretty much start to advertise the ads runs for themselves.
You start to generate leads, you can put the leads into a CRM system full automatically. You could follow up with people, some confirmation, even some texts, send the leader out to the right sales rep, automate the followup process, automate the nurture process, automate the brand building. You can automate the retargeting, you can automate everything and that all the manual work that you have to do with the system like that is to call, you know, obviously called the leads when they come in. You can't do that just yet, but probably calming, you know, sales and you also need to check on the system. Like once per day, you know, how much money did we spend yesterday? How many leads did we get? I want you to do with pay per lead. How many new customers did we get? What did we pay to acquire a new customer?
How much revenue did we come in? What's the ROI? And that takes like 10 to 15 minutes per day to report on. So if you can spend 15 minutes per day to automate your entire advertising platform and have it in house, instead of paying four to $5,000 to add, to hire an advertising agency to do the work for you. Or I would say like between two and a half thousand to $10,000 per month, depending on how good of a company or hiring, you know, a computer, it's not that expensive to hire and it runs 24, seven and it never complains. So that's one of the reasons why I don't recommend hiring marketing agencies and more. And another reason is that it's very, most of them are very similar to um, you know, home advisor and listen lead gen sites. They also have a paper lead type of service and they tell you that they are going to do the advertising under their brand and around their website and then they're just going to sell you the lead.
What they don't tell you is that, you know, you don't have any guarantee that that is exclusive to you. Maybe it is exclusive to you, maybe it is, but still you're not doing the brand building. You're not doing the advertising under your own brand and website. So why even bother with that? Spending 20 again, probably be the agency that does most money there. And um, so yeah, that should be a warning sign for you also in another big thing when marketing agencies that most marketing agencies out there are generalists. So they help like 10 different industries or every industry that they can with every type of service, right? And then they claim to be expert at doing advertising campaigns for roofing contractors, solar contractors, chiropractors, dentists, lawyers, accountants, all of the other, it's just impossible, right? So if you hire a marketing agency, make sure that they do all of the advertising under your brand and your website, you own the system yourself.
And also, uh, they're specialists at helping roofing the solar companies and they should have proof of that and doing that in the past. There's not a lot of agencies that does that, I can promise you, but, uh, and if you do find them, you know, be prepared to spend, to pay a lot of money for it. So marketing agencies is not the best option, in my opinion, in 2020 beyond. The third item on this list is a Google pay per click and SEO. So I'm not the biggest fan of Google pay per click and SEO specifically for the rudeness order industry. Why? Simply because everyone is doing it. Everyone's doing Legion sites and everyone's doing Google. What happens when everyone does something? It's very popular. Obviously it becomes competitive and when something becomes competitive and everyone priced rank or like pay Google for the same keyword, prices go up.
It's harder to get results and it takes a lot longer to get results. So, you know, don't get me wrong, I'm, I'm big believer in SEO. I think SEO can be a great long term strategy for any business, but it shouldn't be your main venue to get leads from in 2020 simply because everyone is trying to rank for the same keyword roofing in your city or in your state or wherever in my now might be right. And everyone has an ADA SEO agency hired. So if you have a new website and don't rank for any keyword, it's going to take a long time to rank for that keyword. And even if you start to rank for that keyword organically, guess what Google is, is giving away more real estate on the search, the search engine pages to the paid ads. It used to be like one to two ads on top above, you know, the organic results.
Now it's like six to seven ads on top. So it's just crazy. And then down below you have the maps, you know the box, whatever people call it, like the, uh, I don't know. So if you don't want to get the Google my business box and if you want to try to rank in that, yeah, it's going to take a long time and then you have the organic results and that it's going to be tough for you to rank there as well. Especially if there's already like established and big roofing contractors that have like old websites with a bunch of authority and a bunch of legs already. It's going to take you like a year or two to even compete with them. So SEO is not the best option for the roofing and solar industry, uh, unless you just want to wait around and don't get in the leads for two years and you can probably use it.
And then in two years it's probably not the best venue anyways. And also you can do any branding or any sharing the videos on Google, which is a huge flaw as well. So why compete there is my question to you. Then the second best option that I recommend for roofing the solar contractors is that escape Google escape, SEO, escape lead generation websites, and start to figure out social media. Is that social media is the future of social media marketing is the future of advertising. Why? Well, you can just look at the stats. Do you know how many hours the average American spends on their phones every single day? Well, it's about three hours right now. The average American all age groups, right? Three hours per day. Do you know how much the average American all age groups spends on social media? Everyday they had two and a half hours.
It's pretty insane. So people spend two and half hours on social media and then on top of that, about three hours per day on the phones, the average American, you can just Google that on Google and you will see what I'm talking about. Right? So social media is great because the competition there right now in the roofing solar industry is pretty much nonexistent when you compare it to Google. So if you scape Google figure out social media, how to do paid advertising, paid advertising campaigns, the social media, you can get cheaper leads, higher quality leads and you can do your branding because guess what, you can share videos and images on Facebook advertising and Instagram advertising. You can't do that on Google so you can both advertise for leads simultaneously as you build your brand and you do all of the advertising under your brand under your bed or your logo on your, your Facebook business page.
So it's like it's a win, win win. So we don't need to do not like um, brand building on TV commercials and more. You can if you want to, if you want to spend the thousands of dollars and don't get into real results, but if you want to brand yourself and just get high quality use from real homeowners in the area, actively searching for your services and you just want to pay a couple of cents per view, which would probably start to figure this thing. Then the absolute best option, best advertising methods in 2020 and beyond for the roofing and solar industry specifically is to have an automated Facebook advertising system that you power with artificial intelligence, big data and machine learning. So this pretty much, it's kinda ties in to the second point social media marketing, but yeah, that's like 90% of the game moving over to Facebook and figure that out.
But then when you actually move over to Facebook, you need to know what to write in the ads, what images to use, what videos to use, what audiences to target. You also need to have an online scene system in place where it kind of handles the leads and you can automate that system so you can pretty much automate the ads nowadays you pretty much go to Facebook, you set up the campaigns to tell Facebook what type of ad, an image you want to use or video. You tell them how much you want to spend in daily ad budget. Then you pretty much could play and then that stops our to run and automate for itself using big data and AI and so forth. To find real homeowners in your area that are actively searching for services. So you set that up, that pretty much runs for itself.
You just check on it like once per day to report on some numbers. Then when you generate the lead, you can automate the followup process, the confirmation process, sending up leads to your sales reps fully, automatically. And you can also do um, nurturing process with the leads on text and email. And you can also do this retargeting, right? So if someone see your ad just once on Facebook or they go to your website just once or they just see your Facebook business page just once. What you can do is to retarget them. And what we target means is that if they see once, they will start to see every single day. So you can show them Facebook ads every single day. Instagram ads, every single day in the YouTube retargeting if you want to. And you can do those banner ads across the entire web as well. So if someone see you once, they start to see everywhere, you know pretty much when you go to Amazon and look in a pair of new running suit shoes, you're like, ah, these Nike shoes are nice, but I'm just gonna wait for a while and then go downstairs.
You have a dinner, then you take off your phone that you spend one three hours per day on go into Instagram or Facebook to check your feet and guess what? There's your shoes and those shoes are going to follow you around now for a couple of days. So that's exactly what you can do for your we from the solo business as well. If they see once, we'll start to see every single day everywhere. And that's called retargeting. So that's my list for today. The worst to the best option. So let's go through them. The worst to best option number six, Legion site's absolute absolute worst. Then we offline marketing methods still really, really bad and we had marketing agencies outsourced. That's bad in my opinion, when you compare it to what you can do now in 2020 then we had third item on the list was Google SEO, pay per click, super competitive, expensive takes time.
You can't do any branding. Then the second spot on the list was social media. Social media is where good people spend two and half hours per day on social media and three hours per day on the phones. And the best is to have an automated online seal system connected to Facebook, um, and automate that process. And that's exactly what we show you how to do on our website leads through from.com. So if you want to see video testimonials, retraining and having us showing you exactly how to set up the system and automated and run it yourself, you've just got to lead through from the comment, we will hook you up and we'll have some awesome results. One of our customers went from low seven figures, eight figures within the first 90 days of using our system. Pretty crazy results. So, uh, yeah, go check that out.
